RE: Film Review: Polanski's 'The Ninth Gate' (1999) Revisited

in #film7 years ago

Delightful review as always, Jane!

I saw The Ninth Gate years ago on home video, not long after it came out, and I really enjoyed it. I've been meaning to read The Club Dumas for years now, but I always get distracted by something newer and shinier. As someone who's been working with and around books for over two decades, Depp's character was highly entertaining. It's been so many years since I saw the film, I believe I could watch it again and have it take me by surprise completely. In fact, now I want to do that...but not until after I've watched The Reincarnation of Peter Proud. :D

Thanks! Rare book dealer would have been a career I would have loved back in the day. But there was no Internet to search for info on that career in those days, and I would have had no idea how to pursue it. I suspect it's one of those careers that you inherit from your family anyway.
