Also an update on the house that broke and fell into the sea.
Currently I have 1.4 Steem and 25 SBD set aside towards buying rice for the poor. When I get to 100 SBD I will withdraw for this purpose.
A New Way of Looking at “Steem Rice”
100 SBD will purchase almost (5) 25 kilo sacks of rice. This is enough rice to supplement a family of 5 for almost a month. Many times when I bring rice to a family, they begin to cook it immediately. I ask God for wisdom as to who should be the recipient. When they cook right away, this tells me they really were in need. This is especially crucial when there are kids involved. One time last month, I brought rice to a family (rice purchased by Steem), the family began to cook and even before I left I could see the little kids eating just rice, like they haven’t eaten in a long time.
Giving rice helps the immediate temporal needs of a family, but it also serves of a gesture of Good Will to the community. Many time this helps when we go to the same area with the Gospel message. We are not just taking about the Love of God, but demonstrating it.
Broken House Update
First of all, a big thank you to everyone that helped with this project. God bless!
This project is still ongoing as it takes time for me to transfer funds to get them finally here in pesos where I can withdraw the funds from the bank. I had some money onhand. About $100 or 5000 pesos when part of this house broke off and fell into the sea. This family is a hardworking family that make their living by fishing. But when something like this happens, there are no funds to fix it. This happened in the night, while some people were sleeping in the area that fell into the sea.
With the funds onhand, our first goal was to get them back in their house.
We used the funds to close off the house and make some roof repairs. Getting the people back in their home. Now we have the rest of the donated funds onhand and we are proceeding to add back the addition that fell off. The neighbors are pitching in to help and this house will be better than the original. So many smiles and even tears are seen on the faces of the family and neighbors. Thanks again to everyone that made this possible!
I WILL TRY TO GET SOME PHOTOS. I AM ALWAYS WANTING TO BE SENSITIVE TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE AND TRY NOT TO EMBARRASS ANYONE. WE ARE DOING THIS OUT OF LOVE, NOT TO MAKE A SPECTACLE OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE’S HARDSHIPS.
The Good News the family is back together in their home. The Love of God is being shown.
God bless!
