RE: Why You Should Power Up [Showcasing the Benefits of Steem Power]

in #steemit7 years ago

Great article @sndbox.

I'm a bit unclear on this one point though and hoping that someone can clarify.

You earn interest on your Steem holdings. Just like with other Proof of Stake elements in cryptocurrencies such as NEO and PIVX, you earn a compounding interest rate on all Steem held as Steem Power.

I haven't noticed any interest being made on my SP. I read that SP was a little more guarded against inflation compared to SBD because less are produced, but that is different than compounding interest. I see that in the SBD wallet there is a current interest rate - but its always at 0% every time I look lol whereas Neo is around 5-7%. Not saying powering up isn't a smart move by any means just trying to understand.

Hoping someone can explain/clarify this so I can understand better :)

since asking this question I have been watching my SP and have noticed that it increases slightly every hour, so I guess it does gain interest. Wow, I never noticed that.
