This is my entry to @marblely contest: My Thursday Favorites now #16 with the theme...My favorite Vegetable/s
My favorite vegetable is Moringa Leaves which dominant plant here in the Philippines.
In the Province or in Subdivision there is no house who haven't Moringa plant for many believe that eating this daily especially children and senior age makes our bone strong and healthy body.
We make simple soup together with other vegetables.
The picture on top is my personal experience about the energy of this vegetable plant.
Last month, Hubby's Geotechnical Soil Boring Test project was for a proposed 4storey office bldg. The lot size around a thousand square meters.
When we arrived at the site, there were many fruit trees and this moringa plant. After our work I asked the caretaker if I could have some moringa leaves. He said, "take it all because when construction starts all of the plants, down." Oh my, I felt sorry for the trees like Avocado, Jackfruit, Bamboos etc. This is the result of progress.
When I was a kid, my mother always cooked vegetable with Moringa leaves and I don't understand that why we must eat that leaves.
My mother told me the story of what happened to my step grandma. It was World War 2, many Japanese in the Philippines especially here in Cebu Island. Then, that was the time of "Jues De Kutsilyo" where in every Japanese soldier must kill everybody they saw on the street.
My stepgrandma and his first husband was stabbed by the sharped Japanese Bajonettes, the husband on top of my stepgrandma. She suffered many wounds. That was there position for how many days. She was still alive but can't moved. The husband was dead.
Blessing! Liberation day came. The american soldiers arrived. She was rescued, for she was still breathing.
My mother said, that was because my stepgrandma cooked and eat Moringa leaves everyday.
After I heard the story I love to moringa leaves in any dish.
With scientific back up, moringa is now use as booster and use in cosmetic industry.
