The Mavericks has defeated the leading team in the Western Conference, and the current NBA Champions 126-91. The 35 point loss is the largest one in the Steve Kerr era. The Warriors were without Stephen Curry, Shaun Livingston and Andrew Bogut but still the Warriors having 4 all star caliber players was still a tough task. Dirk Nowitzki produced a vintage performance with 21 points, and 5 three pointers, but the star of the night was rookie Luka Doncic as he torched the Warriors with a triple-double. Doncic finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Doncic is a front runner to win the rookie of the year this season.
With the loss the Warriors now drop to 2nd place in the West behind the Denver Nuggets. With the Mavericks already out of the Playoffs they look into the next season with positivity, with Doncic, and acquiring Kristaps Porzingis through trade earlier. The Mavericks will be looking dangerous next season, as Doncic will have a season under him as he develops to a superstar player, and will certainly be challenging the Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference.
