This building right here was a Crowne Plaza Hotel located in Kingston, Jamaica. I ...

... remember going to some very interesting events here. Reggae & Dancehall artiste Bounty Killer was a regular. Many popular musicians used to flock the bar especially. The hotel was sold to the United States Embassy by the Financial Sector Adjustment Company ( FINSAC) for $8M USD. Now the building houses US embassy personnel. Many argue the hotel was sold for way to cheap. The building was built by Paul Chen Young’s Eagle Financial Group before it collapsed. The initial cost was a whopping $1B + . The hotel was only runnng for 4 years and it served as a hotel and apartment complex. The hotel wasn’t viable at all. The location really sucked IMO... well there wasn’t much for a tourist to do. It seemed more for the business trip crowd but most of the business takes place in New Kingston & Downtown . I remember saying in my young age “Why would you put a hotel like that here? There is no beach or good scenery”. I saw this building quite often as it was in my stoping ground UPTOWN!

I really don’t know what the developers were thinking. I guess they were trying to avoid the land cost near costal waters but it ended up costing them in the long run. It is a nice building though, with some comfy rooms. I know the embassy personal are enjoying it.

They clearly didn’t do a market analysis to see if it made sense to build at that location. At least they didn’t tear it down 🤷🏽‍♀️

Mi a tell you. Somebody looked into dirty crystal ball lol. You active already! I love it . You are gonna be bossin here in no time.

Lol I feel the same...the hotel would have made so much more sense if it was by the beach, with such heights, it would have granted better scenery. Well...bad planning

Right ! 3/4 of this building could be facing the ocean while the other 1/4 with a a city view. Sometimes I wonder if it was the plan from the start to sell it out to the embassy.

Wow it cost a billion and sold for 8 mil. ?? Someone got ripped off and someone else got a bargain ;)

A very huge bargain, looks like a chess move y the embassy 😅

Maybe owner got the land and wanted to construct a residential hotel in the city.. Reflection of weird client.

It was a very ambitious project but someone didn’t do their research.

Ya forgot to do site analysis..

Bredda, i have a shot from this building, too ;)
If it's not that one, than a very similar one, also from Kingston, where
i did a stop with my driver...
8 Milli sounds way to cheap for this size.

Fi real!!? It is probably it, nthing else looks like it in Kingston. Yeah man, way too cheap, I really feel it was planned from the start to give it to the US, strategic depreciation.

You are probably right with the depreciation... wait, is it that one ;)
