With the recent regulations put in place by the federal government of Nigeria back with the central bank, in this period of elections, physical cash is control by the government, since Nigeria is not yet through with her elections, it was only the national elections that was conducted two weeks ago, on the 11 of March, which will be this week Saturday, Nigeria would had it governorship and States house of assembly's elections.
The period set to conduct elections were too many, but the good part is that people are now getting used to mobile transactions instead of going to market, stores and others places where market activities are carried out with physical money, which can be heavy to carry, when it is in bulk. A few years ago, mobile money transfers were still a matter of debate, I don't think many Nigerians dreamt of it, but now they are a reality in the country.
Now even an old woman can make mobile transactions with her phone, going to banks people queue up at the customer service centre because they want to activate their sims for alerts and other people want to get an ATM for themselves.
Nigeria is becoming a country where you hardly see paper money, things are changing in another way that Nigerians did not expect and people are now aware of when to go to the bank and what the bank cannot do so well.
Even my nephew this morning asked me "where am i going, if my going out is to the bank, to go and activate my sim for alert, I told him no but I am going to buy some items in the shop with my Card.
That means, sim activation for alerts and transfers is something that has been talked about in the neighbourhood for a long time and that a four year old child could understand.
The truth remains that my own country, Nigeria, does things without regard for the welfare of other Nigerians, people who are yet to learn how to make transfers on their mobile device safely are still facing difficulties in the country.
But there are still some aspects that show people that for citizens to be able to make mobile transactions on their phones in buying items and making other payments, the country is leaning towards the good side, I believe this is a fact too.
The only bad thing is that the government has introduced a scheme in the country without making adequate preparations, and the scheme has caught the citizens unawares and has become a problem affecting people's lives, as it is happening to some Nigerians who are yet to activate their SIM cards to receive alerts.
