I’ve Tried

Above is my mid-week lunch. I had “kitsune udon” with rice and some pickles. The rice had some vegetables. “Kitsune” literally means fox in Japanese but in this meal “Kitsune” is the deep fried tofu that’s on top of the udon noodles. It is also topped with wakame seaweed and chopped leeks. I love it. Lunch was good but I had a “problem”.
In Japan and several Asian countries, it’s good to slurp your noodles. I’ve tried mentally to do it but can’t get myself to. Well... that’s a minor problem but...

Do you slurp your noodles?

It’s amazing how difficult it is to undo learning. In many western countries, slurping or making loud sounds while eating, is considered to bad table manners. One who does it is considered to have poor dining etiquette.
Interestingly, what’s considered good manners in one country may be considered bad manners in another.

One day I’ll slurp it.

Do you have other examples of food practices that are considered bad in some countries but good in others?

Please share them in the comment box.

Have a great weekend. 😃

Oooh I know that triangle thing!! It’s tofu!! My Japanese aunt made it for us once! She took these out as dried piece and soaked in the water for a while they become very spongy!

😃Yes! It's dried tofu. Spongey describes it well. I love it.

ooohhh definitely sluuuurp! 😋

Lol! I’ll try again next time.

Forget what people thing slurping noodles is THE BEST WAY to have it. Trust me on this.

😃Thanks for stopping by. I'll try again. I don't like to hear loud sounds of people eating so I find it hard to do it.

I love slurping my noodles and eating my food really hot. People say it's bad the way I rush hot food but that's how I like it.

In Nigeria, eating with your left hand is frowned upon and seen as bad table manners not minding left handed people

😃Thanks for stopping by. I love my food hot too but still can’t do the slurp. Lol!
That’s interesting. I need to bear that in mind should I visit Nigeria. I’m actually left-handed. Lol
