I guess it's like most new technologies, it has the potential for use and misuse, and being humans and curious (and contrary), we love testing out all the different ways things can be used. My thoughts are that NFTs will become more robust over time, the various efforts to either be silly or malign help to pinpoint the issues so they can be addressed. We'll see what happens 😁 .

Electricity use, though, that's a whole other thing, especially the lack of awareness about how much is consumed in the creating and using of digital coins and tokens. But again, we have tremendous ingenuity, and lots of wind and wave power, so I am hopeful for the future 😍.
