Sunday
Last weekend I made an impromptu visit to a temple in my town that I didn’t know existed (that seems to happen a lot these days). It is said that going to this temple is like going to 100 temples in the region. Not sure how they came to that conclusion but I went with the flow and absorbed the energy from the power spot.
Something about this temple was different in that it had numerous golden Buddha statues inside ( no pics taken of the sacred Gods). It made me realize that Buddhism has many different characters that represent the wants and needs of man, from peace and tranquility to wealth and health. There was a different Buddha to pray to and make an offering in order to make one’s wishes become reality.
Now, while I don’t believe that praying to a golden statue will bring you luck, I believe it is a form of affirmation to help you believe in your abilities, a form of motivation if you will. So I look at it from that perspective. Personally I like to see artistic statues and imagine worlds that could have existed thousands of years ago. One image really made me think and it was statues of giant devils that were said to walk the earth and the humans were saved by the “enlightened” ones. And then after the short trip to power up at the temple. It was off to take the kids to the indoor playground as it was extremely hot out.
Saturday
On Saturday, the day started with taking the kids to swimming school and while they did that, I worked out in the gym along with my wife. When their swimming lessons were finished, my wife took them home and I stayed a bit longer and took a swim myself. Feels good to take a swim after lifting some weights. And to think if I hadn’t asked, I would have no clue that I could pay for just one day of swimming and weight training. It is extremely affordable too with a cost of roughly $3 for a day.
After the workout I linked up with a couple from Zimbabwe I met some weeks back. They are new-ish to Japan and living in this town it is hard to get around. So I took them to the nearby Brazilian town to grab some burgers, check out the supermarket and to get a very important piece of home furniture. I know what it is like without personal transport in this town so I have been making more of an effort to spend time with them and help them out when I can. It is also great for me to hangout with them as I get to learn about their culture ( which is also mine ) and there aren’t many black people around my town that live nearby.
Yup and that is the weekend DashOut. And to finish this post. Here is a song that caught my attention recently. Tommy Lee featuring Ding Dong with Guzo Bounce. The Dancing never end in Dancehall does it Enjoy!
