Hey everyone, what an amazing evening my Landlord and myself had last night. We went (for the first time in months) to his daughters farm around 20 kms from where we reside to inspect the bees. I have become quiet an experienced bee-keeper so pretty much can tell whether there is honey in the hive by the weight, simply lifting the hive. I was amazed that almost all our hives around 7 on the property I could almost not lift, so heavy were they!
We put on our bee-suits, lit the smoker and proceeded opening each hive and to our utter dismay all FULL to the brim! I have not done a bee-video in months as my landlord is rather shy, (he looks like Sean Connery) with such excitement, this time around I just had to capture the moment and here it is..
The red light is said to have a calming effect on them as well as some animals not been able to see red, whether or not there is actually empirical science behind this or not, the jury is surely still out on this one!
What an epic evening this was, now to process and extract all the honey from these 27 combs, good luck me.
Be sure to stay tuned for more of my epic bee-keeping adventures and have an amazing weekend.
Cheer$;)
