Market Friday Goes to Camping World

in #marketfriday7 years ago (edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see different markets and cultures of our friends here on steemit,

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. It helps you and me to have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much for joining us!! ❤

It goes against the grain in the real world to stop working before your time. Your time being old enough to retire. I know there are people that do it, but, for the most part, people continue with the expected path. But what if you could take the road less traveled, create your own journey? Live your life out without fear of running out of money? So many things to consider. I have always traveled, in some capacity, whether through work or on my own. After spending a long time pondering the whole point of life and what I still want to do with it and how to make it count best, I have decided that I will most likely buy a travel trailer to tour the US, including Alaska. I will be detouring outside the US, but, I will be making plans to travel and blog as I go, which is really quite exciting to me. I have no date, but, I have set a date to stop working. How much money do I need to be happy? That took a while to be realistic and figure out, but, I did it. And I am ready. Of course, now I have to look for a travel trailer that will allow me to wander about and be comfortable. I do not want it as a permanent place. I already have a house and I will definitely keep it as a home base. And yes! I am a little excited! How about you and me take a look and see a few of the motor homes I looked at, at Camping World.

MF8.jpg

I shouldn't have shown this one first, but, this excited me a whole lot. It had an amazing layout and two sets of stairs. What??? I know, right? This was the kitchen. Full-size everything, including stove, refrigerator, oven, and microwave. You can see the faucet, but, the counter on the island has a cover over the sink to make more space for meal preparation. So you also have a sink, but, you will have to wash your own dishes. Sorry.

MF9.jpg

If you scroll back to the first picture, there is a small set of stairs on the left side of the screen. These walk up into the living room. It has a for-real living room. Two sleeper couches (for the company) that were leather facing each other. In between, is a fireplace... hello... I am not kidding. But, then, there is a pop-up television in the back of that. To complete the scene, there is a double set of leather recliners that have footrests and it even massages you. That is it, there will never be any pictures taken... Oh, did I say that there are five push-outs or slides to make this bigger? That is why it looks so big. Pushed in, the couches almost touch one another. Without them, it is merely a travel trailer.

20190309_132654.jpg

This is what you call a fifth-wheel. You need a truck to hitch it on to and in actuality, it is very easy to handle. The good thing is that you can unhook your trailer when you get somewhere and take the truck. That is a plus. (I keep telling myself that)

I have never liked fifth wheels. I have a weird aversion to them. I cannot even tell you why. But, I figure that God or the Universe is punishing me now because this is like the answer to it all. And I like it. Ugh!

The open doors are where storage is. Lots of storage! An embarrassing amount of storage. It is not a house, just temporary travel. But, there you have it. I think it could easily stow away a dozen or more people.

MF10.jpg

This is the other part of the living room with the lounge chairs. So, there is a nice little conversation corner to make it all cozy. I think I would need to put a coffee table in there. There is actually too much space. Did I really say that?

20190309_132813.jpg

These are the automatic level jacks. It levels your trailer when you park it. So you are not walking uphill or downhill or sleeping on an incline. I have slept that way a few times! I even lived to tell... but what if you didn't have to??? Quite handy.

image.png

Guess what?? Self-sustaining!! It is solar! I have no idea why that surprised me, but it did. That makes me love it more.

MF11.jpg

It has a separate bedroom with a king size bed. Oh, I can sleep like a starfish if I want! There is a large closet with the double mirrors and a washer/dryer combo in the door with the louvers. Now, as much as I don't want a washer in there, I will take one for the team because I dislike laundromats worse.

Did I say there was another big screen television in the bedroom? Well, yes there is!

This actually rolls out and is made of steel. It is in the back of the trailer. You can put all sorts of outdoor toys in there, including Denise's kayak. It is ten or twelve feel long. I cannot remember which, but, it was huge. Why did I not like the fifth wheel again?

This is the outside of the trailer and you can see how much larger it can get by pushing out (they are electric) the slides. It goes from trailer to home with the push of a button. Also, you can see where Denise will be blogging. Her chair and a pull-out desk from the dashboard that fits a laptop. They think of everything!

Oh, steem on!

STOP!! BRAIN TEASER AHEAD!!

In a one-story house, there was a pink person, a pink cat, a pink fish, a pink computer, a pink chair, a pink table, a pink telephone, a pink shower. Everything was pink! What color were the stairs?

source

Answer: There weren't any stairs, it was a one-story house.

I have been to so many new places lately! I love to share and be shared with! I have always and forever liked to see different fruits and vegetables or products that are being sold. Perhaps I cannot get them here. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

MF2.jpg

This is another camper. It is what they call a Class C. It means that the trailer is on a truck chassis and you drive it. Okay, to be fair, it is a very strong, large truck. The layout was nice and it was more compact, which is not a bad thing either. You are not going to live in it forever, so do you really need all that room?

It also had a nice drivers cab, comfortable seats and very nice tiles on the floor. It also had some carpet, but, actually like the tile more. The big screen was kind of oddly placed, given the placement of the couch, but, this also had push outs that were not out, so it got quite a bit bigger. I really did like this one too.

MF5.jpg

It had a pretty standard dining area, although the cushions were very comfortable. You could lean against the back of the seat and put your feet up if you wanted to. Not that I ever do that!

MF6.jpg

This had a nice stove/oven/backsplash in it. It also had a full-size refrigerator and oak cabinets. It has a lot of nice features that are there, but, after seeing so many of these, I almost don't see them. I have stars in my eyes from shopping for them

MF7.jpg

Wasn't the outside pretty? There was the one push out. The other side had two. That alone almost doubled the space. Incredible what they do to these vehicles now.

MF.jpg

MF13.jpg

This was a Class A, which is an all in one drivable one. That is what I was originally looking for. It is well appointed, compact and even has a push out. Just one, but, it really made a huge difference in size.

20190309_133818.jpg

You can see above the driver's seat that there is another pull-down bed. If you don't need it for guests, you can always use it for storage or just push it up and it will make the cab part bigger. Your choice. It also has a nice pull-out computer desk, so if you have a driver, you can relax and look out that huge bus size window and admire our wonderful earth. She is a beauty! So much to see, so much to do.

20190309_133710.jpg

This was a real hit with me! It had an outdoor entertainment package. Big Screen TV and BBQ grill plus a nice awning to pull down for shade. It even had a place to put ice for keeping them cold. I just know a man designed the outside of this.

20190309_133806.jpg

Queen size bed and a nice sized room with no waste. However, it did push out, so you could easily make the bedroom roomier if you so chose.

There was a big screen television. I'm sorry. Aren't we out with nature? What is it with these televisions all over the place? Each vehicle had 3 or 4. That is easily twice the amount I have in my house. And probably bigger too. Ha!

20190309_142720.jpg

This section are some of the features I saw on various recreational trailers, some of which I went through and looked at them. I couldn't believe it but it had a double sink in the bathroom in one. Yes. Again... I am not going to live there. Skip this extra!

This was a rather unique feature. Well, perhaps unique is not the right word I liked it because it was a space saver AND it had both the washer AND dryer. In the bathroom. Out of sight. Booya!

image.png

Full size refrigerators in all of the recreational vehicles that I looked at. That really surprised me, but, I have found that with all these push-outs, they really can fit so much more in them.

20190309_130557.jpg

I would say that this was a typical bathroom. Very compact, yet, it has everything that you need. The sinks have Corian, as a matter of fact, all of the kitchens had Corian on the counters also. I forgot to mention that up there.

They were all generous with their counter space and as you can see for yourself, all Corian. This made them so much more luxurious looking. Or at the very least... durable!

20190309_135812.jpg

Many of them had ladders that went up to an extra bunking area. In the world of recreational vehicles, this was a definite plus! One can never have enough places to sleep.

image.png

This was definitely an adorable little guy! Perfect for a single or a couple and I am sure, lots of fun and better than a tent, right? Although, I always like camping, so ...

image.png

You open up the backside and there is a stove and a cooler. Cool, right? It really tickled my fancy! I would have done anything to have one of those a few years ago!

image.png

Yes!!! It has a bedroom, enough for two! Or two and a baby... Well, you know what I mean. It was spacious and plenty of room to go around for everyone!

image.png

Aptly named: The Little Guy

If you actually got to the end, kudos to you. I didn't mean to make it so long, but, it happened and then, last night Busy went down and took it with her. Ohhhhh! Well, I can say that I thank you for visiting #MarketFriday and I appreciate all who post into the tag, or even come over and comment. It is a pleasure and I trust you will have a most amazing day! And people, please! Keep on Steeming and spreading that love!

So... Which one did you pick?

They sure are nice. As nice as many regular homes! That Little Guy reminds me of the Dewdrop ones from back in the day.

I can see pros and cons to each of course. Maybe a 5th if you already owned a nice diesel pickup. However then I would miss being able to walk in the back and grab a drink or something. Maybe a nice diesel in a medium size. You know big is nice, but also harder to drive and maneuver. Of course mo re fuel and a sizable price tag to start. It is something I could see taking months and months of really taking notes and comparing to get it right. But hey, I always enjoyed the shopping aspect of the deal. Great post as always!

Truly! When I see the price tag/fuel costs, I know that a lot of shopping will be done. I mean, it would be foolish to think I can get away with walking into a lot and pointing, right?

Although, honestly! Wouldn't that be a lot easier? I do like the thrill of the hunt, but, I also need to find what will be right. It is so much more fun to look at what will not fit in my purse! LOL

I don't own that nice diesel pickup so that would be a minus, but, the extra room would be a plus... plus, it could unhitch. Like you said, going in back and grabbing a drink is a nice thing as opposed to having to stop. A plus is being able to use the ladies room without having to stop somewhere also! To be fair, I can think of as many good things with each as bad. Which totally makes it harder to decide.

I know that I will be hovering until something strikes me. Thanks for stopping over and reading it! ;) I know it was a long one!

!tip

Well as you know using the ladies room is not just flush and forget though. Of course that is all part of the fun experience! Take this free lesson from Robin Williams:

Oh, really? Who knew!

This was pretty much something I didn't need to know!!! Ewwww! I am so glad that I didn't see this! LOL

Well you need to know LOL!!! Dont use a spliced line LOL!!! I know when I used Gramps motorhome back in the day, we used the "in house" facilities as little as possible. Oh you dont have to worry. I am sure there is always some guy there to help do it for you like at the gas pumps OMG, you just have that look :D

Oh, now I remember why I tell you nothing!!! You publicly out me! Boo-Hiss!

OMG some states they do it for everyone you lil diva lol!

I've been told I'm a bit of a fifth wheel, now and then. But I'm not sure this is what they mean. Love all the cool mobile homes. They ARE amazing. Nicer than my house by far. Tough choice, though that 5th wheel would be nice, it's a gorgeous place to live, and you have a truck once you get where you're going. Get a bike friday to go along, and gaziingaloo.
I love all the TV's. Though the last few times I've camped in a campground, you see the big RV, with a roaring fire out front, and everyone is inside, watching the tube. Kind of sad, actually. Could have stayed home and done that. Oh the roughing it lifestyle. Then again, to each his/her own. As long as they're not bothering others, whatever might be will be.
That is a TOUGH choice looking at all of these. Each has it's own charm. Though if you're going to live in it, bigger would be better. Everything shrinks, once you live in it and collect things as you go. Thanks for taking us on the shopping look with you. It's fun to live vicariously through you and your travels. Have a peachy Saturday, what is left of it. Cheers.

Oh, nooooo! This is not to live in! This is merely to travel from here to there and back again. I want to take a trip to all the National Parks and to Alaska (for three months) so... I want to get one and use it for a bit and then sell it, because it is actually cheaper than renting one.

I don't put my tv on at home hardly, except to watch Jeopardy. :) So, even though I showed you the large 5th wheel, I probably wouldnt get one. I would have to buy a proper truck to haul it.

Class A with a few pushouts to maximize the space. They aren't that big until you press that button and make them grow! I used to use just a sleeping bag when we all went camping, not even a tent, but, things are different in our world now.

It's funny how everyone thinks I am moving to a motor home! Yikes!!! I love my home, sweet home! :) And thank you so much for stopping over!!! I'm so afraid I am not getting over to your place and you will trash me along with yesterday's newspaper. I have got to get over there! I do miss your words!!!!

!tip

I DID read that, but thought you meant you would be living in it for extended periods of time. Like a month or four in a gorgeous national park. I've always wondered what it would be like to be a campground host. You get to stay for free, and jabber with all the folks. One of my hobbies. Talking to new people about life. Though it might also be a pain, and you have to 'be there'. So maybe just putzing about as usual is better. Hmm, food for thought. And I can see not giving up a major residence, that would be hard to do. Always need a place to come home to.

Plus, the more you drive your 'home' around, seems it would fall apart faster. Just by a lot of hard use. So, wise choice. And buying and selling it later makes total sense. That way you recoup some of your coin. Like buying a slightly used car instead of brand spanking new.

So glad to always chat, and I would never toss you out like an old newspaper ( : I can fully relate, I'm lucky to get a vote in on time, let alone decent comments. I'm always voting in blocks, since my vote power wanes fast. I'd like to get on autovote, to be more timely, but it seems kind of cheap. And I'm not a big fan of the bots.
As for not getting to stuff, life does sometimes get rather busy, and the things I DO choose to do on here seem to take a lot of time. Be it writing or photo essays. I'm working on a whole photo series on the snow, it takes DAYS to finish. Whinge whinge whinge. But it so much fun.

I'm quite sure you haven't missed much in the world of DDS postings. Just a long 28 minute 5 minute freewrite recently went out. Hope they don't toss me out of the club like your paper, since I do long ones. But it's just what I do for those. They give a nice starting point for a longer piece. Hence my 'Disclaim-iere' at the bottom. Feel that makes it more honest. Well, here's to a bonny good Saturday night. Keep smiling, and bugging OGP. Makes me laugh...
Thanks for the tips too, very kind indeed.

Awwww !! You are the sweetest! Thank you. I am still working on #MarketFriday which is why I am seeing this. Yes, there will be periods of one month and three to Alaska - a leisurely drive up and a month of fun up there! I want to hop on the Denali Train!! and then a leisurely trip back. If I go out west (actually WHEN) I go back out west, there is always time to see some friends and transplant family, then on to Zion National Park and the Arches. Oh, there is so much, and back to the Redwoods. Most of these are revisits, but, this time with more time and patience and I won't be correcting a toddler or three. :)

I was reading that 28 minute freewrite this morning, as I was waking up and didn't finish because the smoke alarm went off. (Low battery) Took me an hour to get the ladder and change it.

Sigh. Why not, right?

Hehe... Bugging him is my job. You know. I should get paid for that. :)

Have a most wonderful night and give HH a how-do from me!

What you have posted here would be everyone's dream i guess. Who wouldn't love a motor home like that? It looks fantastic and have all the luxury you need, even more I guess.
Here is my entry to this week's MarketFriday Handmade Art At The Craft Market, Part 2 - MarketFriday

Well, it was several different ones, and even though I went out to look, of course, I will present nice ones, right? What fun would that be if I didn't? It is fun to dream a little bit and who knows? Maybe I will win the lottery or someone will give me one for my birthday. ;)

It was a lot of fun to see what they are doing with motorhomes nowadays. I was actually surprised by all the luxury that is offered up! Thank you for taking the time to read this one! It was a really long one and I am sorry about that!

!tip

Don't worry, sometimes I do the same, I look at furniture or other products I have no intention to buy because it feels good. Besides, it's free and we have to stay updated, isn't it?

Absolutely! In the name of #MarketFriday! Yes! :)

Thank you.

My goodness me - these are beautiful! And they all have better kitchens than I have! It's wonderful to have all the facilities, but I think I would like something a little cosier :)

Here's my contribution for this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh, they have cozy!! Just for you @shanibeer! I could not show them all, I just chose three out of like 30. The cozy was smaller and more plus, with fireplaces and just remember that these are not HOUSES but, they are a means to travel so you can camp right at your spot.

Hey!! Thank you so much for checking out my #MarketFriday post and putting in one of your own! I am very excited to check it out! I hope you have an amazing weekend!

!tip

They all sound gorgeous, I was interested in the push out idea - very clever :). I don't know how you are going to make a decision, but it is great fun investigating!

Posted using Partiko Android

I know!!! Isn't that the truth! Those push outs made the entire thing go from recreational vehicle to a home on wheels. No kidding.

Not that I would ever want to live in one, but, you could!!! They have made so many upgrades and amazing features. Solar was pure genius! You can be self-sufficient!

Half the fun is the thrill of the hunt! Yes!! Thank you again @shanibeer

Wonderful! What is not to love on it, right? Especially given the fact that it is only for road trips and camping! The decor is awesome, I just don't know how I feel about towing one. I am sure I will figure it all out over time!

And then you have to store it. Needless to say inside storage is best after you've paid the big bucks nothing else will do. Rent around here runs between three to five hundred a month. You don't want mice destroying the insides and wires while it is sitting in an RV dirt parking lot. I really enjoyed your tour today. For some reason I have been looking at them online again. I did two one year studies on them in the last 5 years thinking I really want to travel this way and each time we came to the same conclusion. No. Try renting one for a week or two. We ended up with a really nice Chevy travel van with no console between the driver and passenger so I can get up and move around. There is enough of a spot for me to stretch and do yoga. The rear passenger seats are lazy-boy type recliners and the couch makes into a queen size bed. We take a little snooze mid route preferably by a lake or scenic area. We're still happy with our choice BUT if bitcoin hits 50.00 who cares if the storage rent is 1000.00 and we'll only use it 90 days a year, we're getting one.

I agree. I lived in Colorado Springs, so yes! Expensive. Try the Washington, DC area!

Yikes.

I have friends that have to replace the wires every year! Mice and the desert are hell on them. I plan on doing the Natuonal Parks plus for about two years, going home in between trips and then selling for that exact reason. I have a covered garage to keep it.

We will see how it all works. Glad you are happy with yours!! Thank you for stopping by!

!tip

Perfect for your situation. Just thinking of the photos you would be engaging us with while you travel is a YES from my point of view...a little selfish...I know.

Hehehe! Nooo! I'm excited at that thought too! :)

I'm back at the Korean store this week Denise, @dswigle. I hope you like it :)

https://steemit.com/busy/@fitinfun/market-friday-cannot-leave-the-korean-store-kuala-lumpur-malaysia

My aunt and uncle traveled like that all over the us and Canada for about 20 years. They had vehicles like you are looking at - not so posh! It's a fun way to go. They stopped for a month or two at a time. I know you will like it with your wanderlust.

Hi, Sharon!!! It will be fun, but, it will be probably a month on the road and a month overseas and home for a few... Rinse, repeat.

At this point, the only thing certain is I need to start having some long term fun before I wake up one day and say... hello? How did I get this old and still working! Well, not really, but, I want to quit while I am young and can enjoy life. :)

So many people do it full time and have fun. I have kids and one going to get another degree in the fall, so hey, they are a consideration. :)

I am excited to see the Korean store again! Your posts are always and forever fun and I so appreciate all the time and effort spent making an awesome #MarketFriday post! Thank you!

Hope all is well in your world and Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

DO IT! Cathy and I retired at 58. Make sure you have enough money, because it goes a lot faster than you think it will. I'd say 5th wheel to live in, but for driving around I'd rather have the class A. U+R :-)

Honestly? Every one of my brothers and sisters left work at 40 with a couple hanging til almost 50. I had some great influences early on in life about savings and investing, so thankfully I am good and all 3 of my houses will be paid off before I quit.

I am not about to live in a fifth wheel, but I am leaning towards the class A. I agree. The real plan is to buy it and enjoy the heck out of it for a couple of years, then sell it off while it is still good and then- perhaps another avenue of travel... Time will tell, but, it is fun thinking about the possibilities!

Thank you for the upvote and resteem!

!tip

I could live in a fifth wheel on my own 10-acre lot, but not in a trailer park.

Totally agree! Except there will be a point when we all get older that it would no longer be comfortable 24/7

Maybe.

I don't know anyone who lives in a trailer, only a few thattake extended trips in them. I'm ready!

:)

My son and daughter in law manufacture and sell caravans very similar to these @dswigle and as Australia is an ideal country with which to travel all year around, it is a thriving business here.

It sounds as though you have some very exciting times ahead and the lifestyle your describe would fit in extremely well with blogging and steeming. Wonderful images.

Have an awesome weekend my friend. (U & R )

Here is my entry:

That is pretty exciting stuff there, Trudee! @trudeehunter Have you ever used one of theirs? It is a huge business over here too, mostly in part because there is always somewhere with awesome weather. It makes it so nice to be able to follow the weather, right?

Although, I still love my four seasons!

I imagine it would be really nice there with there being water on all sides and small enough to get around! Yes! I'm in! Part of me knows that it will be some time here in states and the rest traveling the world or home!! I actually do love home, but, my feet get itchy if I have been here too long!

Thank you for posting in the #MarketFriday tag and I hope you have a most amazing weekend~ Happy ST. Patricks Day!

!tip

We have been fortunate enough to holiday in our sons caravans from time to time and it is always a great experience. I used to go camping a lot as a child in New Zealand which often involved RV's.

It's a wonderful way to get to see the country, relax and spend quality time with the family. I'd be very interested to know what you end up buying. Once you've been bitten by the travel bug its hard to stay in one place for too long. You've got to take opportunities when you can.

Thank you for the kind tip and support.

I agree! Seize the day!! After all, how much money do we need to be happy? You can't save and not enjoy some of it!

Unfortunately, I have always been a traveler! I say unfortunate, but, I have enjoyed every inch of the world that I have been on! I still have many places to go, but, some of my brothers and sisters -plan on meeting up in different parts of the US and having fun. Everyone has decided that these next two years should be about us and checking out our own little world (the US) as most of us take our vacations abroad. :)

I will let you know what I get, even if it is a tent~ LOL

Thanks for the reply and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thank you @tipu

I'd go for 'The Little Guy' Denise. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like towing the weight of a house with you everywhere. But I do love your idea of being able to visit and blog about all the National Parks in the US and Alaska. Sounds like such an exciting and inspiring adventure.

I know whatever caravan you end up getting Denise, you'll completely transform it with your wonderful sense of colour and decor. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

I see your point, Ally! I think I will go for as little as I can get away with ! Yes! Most of them aren't towing, but just driving the vehicle. I would just like to take small amounts of time... Okay! Endless vacations! and visit our National Parks again I have done this when I was younger and didn't even take many pictures! but, I sure would love to do it all over again - this time with wisdom and camera.. and words! :)

Thank you for stopping in and I hope you have a most wonderful week!

The second time around, with a camera and intent to share your experiences will be so different again. I'd love to do something similar here ~ Photographing some of the wilderness and outback areas of Oz. Not likely to happen any time soon ~ Still a nice dream to have. Which makes me applaud yours all the more Denise. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

I would say that most of the times I was a kid, so I wasn't expected to take pictures. It has taken a bit of investing and long term planning to make this dream come true. Most people don't realize what a huge task it is to figure out how much money you will need to cover the rest of your life. It is a ton. LOL

I tried last year to not work and see how the living would work out and it did fine. I took off through all the seasons to get a feel for how much it would cost and If I would have to live frugally and found that it wasn't far off from what I planned. So booyah!

I am excited and it will happen! And thank you!

They have certainly come a long way from when I was a camping girl many moons ago. You could literally live in one year round traveling the country. Great post Denise.

Isn't that the truth?? It really is and it is just so amazing that some of these are better than my house! Who knew they would get so fancy in the way they built them, you know?

I know it is silly, but, just knowing that you can travel that way makes me feel like doing it even more. The experience is just out there waiting for me! :)

Thank you for visiting #MarketFriday! I appreciate you joining in for some of the fun!

!tip

I think that would be a great experience. I know that you can rent them, so why not? I know you would love it!

Yes!! That is exactly the way I feel! Renting is a good option, but, they are so expensive to rent, however, way cheaper than making that investment - you are totally right about that!

Good for you Denise! I've been full-time RVing for almost 5 years now and love it! We have a 40 foot class A diesel pusher. We also have 3 large dogs but still have plenty of room. Hahaha! No really! We don't have a house anymore so this is our only home. We have a mail service that we use as our permanent address for vehicle registration, voting, etc. When you make the commitment to do this, you find that there are so many material things that you can do without and still be comfortable.

I retired now, but we've met many RV people who still have a regular day job. Also, most of the campgrounds that we've been to hire people to do all sorts of thing around the campground in exchange for their site and sometimes for pay.

As for the type of RV it's all a matter of personal preference and lifestyle. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Before you take the plunge do your research.

Don't forget that RVing is not camping. There will be many days that you'll appreciate those TVs!

Hehe! Truth! Of course, it won't be full-time RVing, but, to revisit all of the National Parks in each state. I am sure that is how it all starts.

I have a lot of homework to do, and my first love, was, of course the diesel pusher because... well, the obvious. Hello!!! It sure is nice and the bells and whistles that come along with it are nice.

There will be a lot more looking, but, that is the fun part, right? Three large dogs? Oh, boy!! How do you manage that on a rainy day? Although, I must say, most of the ones I like have mostly tile. I cannot imagine having carpet and having to rip it up and put new in. I had relatives that did it 80% of the time and had a home base, but, they only went to visit their house. :) Five years and you are still loving it?

There is a lot to be said for that. Kind of neat to be able to shift with the season, yes? Thanks for your input!!!

!tip

Right! When we started looking, we were looking at small popup campers. Hahaha! Just to do short weekend camping trips. Then we kept looking at bigger and bigger. Finally settling in to the one we have. The size of our rig and having 3 dogs limits our choices of place to stay a little bit, but that's OK for us. If you are hoping to stay in National and state parks you find that most are not big rig friendly. So, that will limit your RV choices.

We've met a lot of people who still have a house somewhere and head someplace warm for the winter. That makes sense to do it in an RV.

We had carpeting in our rig when we bought it. We could never get it clean. We eventually ripped it out and put in vinyl flooring. It looks like wood and is so much easier to maintain.

It truly is easier to maintain and I noticed that most of them did have nice tiled flooring as opposed to the carpeting. I imagine that may last a season or two.

I noticed that most parks are not too friendly with big rigs, so that will also be taken into consideration. Oh, who knew it was going to be this much trouble trying to figure this out!

I hope you don't mind if I bother you with questions once in a while! :)

I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have. There are lots of options out there, so be aware of analysis paralysis, having too many choices to make a decision! Setting your goals will help narrow things down. Best of luck on your search!

Thank you so much! That alone is a big help! It seems so easy, but, in fact so many huge decisions go into it!

What a totally fun idea.

These are amazingly luxurious. They would be perfect, if only they weren't so......BROWN !! LOL... OMG ..... That's right, I said it. 😆

I think more and more people are looking for alternate retirement ideas. I sat next to a man last fall while waiting to have my car inspected and the oil change. He was there doing the same. We struck up a conversation to wile the time away and he told me that his wife had decided that when they retired (or maybe it was when SHE retired) that they should sell their house, buy an RV and permanently park it at a local campground.... and that is what they did !

I also have a friend in Florida who lives in an RV at a campground that has a pool, tennis court, lake you can fish at & etc. Living there, she can enjoy all of that at any time without paying extra ! I thought that was a splendid idea.

Oh... and P.S. My Mom and Tommy traveled a LOT for I don't know how many years, but the house was paid for and they didn't have hardly any extra bills, so it worked out. They have aged out of it now and let the motor home go a couple years ago, so now they have a lot of extra money....LOL... with all the gas and etc, it was very expensive, even though they ate mostly like they do at home, making their meals and eating out rarely. Traveling isn't cheap, but it sure is fun !

Well, I may end up going back to work, so I won't call it retirement. LOL

I am just quitting work!

I will not be making a permanent move to one of these, just something to travel from here to there so I can get closer to nature and stop where I want to as opposed to whatever hotel I can get.

Oh, there are a lot of reasons I wish to do it this way. I want to go to Alaska, and I want to take weeks to get there and weeks to get back, and a month up there, and it is not something work will let me do, I already take enough time off... so

Well, now you know the rest of the story. If you see me out there by Walmart, shaking my empty can for a coin bitcoin to be exact don't forget to throw me a few! :)

I will keep my house as this is where I want to live. Some days. LOL Thanks for visiting #MarketFriday!

!tip

I understood you weren't thinking to living in yours, it just reminded me of the other's stories. I like reading about people who find alternatives to the norm...... and it works out for them.

Going back to work after?? Can't imagine it after all that freedom. While you are traveling, maybe you'll think up something even better to do after.

Oh, no! I hope to never go back to work. Hehe! Lazy that I am.

I won't be able to get this much time off and I think just living off my own fat will work out fine. :) I like watching people roll around full-time, but, I have too much family and things going on to disappear like that. They would miss me and I would miss them. Well some days. LOL

I actually have no trouble filling my time. EVER. I have always had to make time to work. But, then, work is fun sometimes.

Danke sehr

WOW those are nice as for the TV's thats more than we have also, infact we only have one TV, and if I ever got an Rv that is all I would want, but I would also need a setup for my PC with two or three screens LOL
I must admit getting one of these and cruising the country is something I always wanted to do as well, but I do not think that will come to be unless something magic happens and Lulu gets better travelling in an RV with how she is now would just not be good for her

that all said from your post these RVs seem to have a bit of everything in them and look like they would be so comfortable to live in maybe its something I need to look into again, plus I never knew they made them with Solar these days that is a big plus

and here is my post for this week :)

https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tattoodjay/market-friday-more-street-vendors

I know, right??? I was appalled at how many televisions there were in those things! I actually have two, but the house is three floors and I have a media room, so I cannot count that one, but, the one I use for news etc is right off the kitchen (the den)

How many screens do you have for your computer??? :)

That said, perhaps something will change that will make it so that Lulu can travel, one never knows, right? I always say, never say never. I think it keeps us with hope in our soul. I don't think I would want to live in one, but, many people do, although I would not be opposed to taking a three-month jaunt to Alaska... so that is sort of like living in it. The solar was a huge plus!

I am glad you enjoyed the post! I want to thank you for taking the time to read it and I hope you have a most awesome weekend!! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

!tip

Yeah I think that is crazy but also common in many houses to have so many, I know someone who even has one in the Bathroom, I just cannot understand that myself lOL
And I forgot we do have two one in the spare room/ my Computer room, that the grandkids use to play games on when they visit, but as I never ever turn it on I forgot all about it

I also say never say never ( mind you just for the record when we say that we just said never twice :) ) when it come sot Lulu and IC, I have read of some cases where it just goes away and people are back to living a normal life, its something i hope and pray for every night.
I do like the idea of having it available and taking a two or three month road trip every now and again not sure i would like to do it long term in one trip, would want to get back settled and editing three months worth of photos LOL
You to have a good weekend and Happy St Patricks day

Yes!!! A month here or there or a long trip 3 months to Alaska. Living in one is not for me! But, can you imagine the photos that could be shot in a short trip!

Every day would be a holiday!

Yes!!! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I already got my corned beef and cabbage dinner lined up~

:)

Ohh yes I can and have dreamed about the possibilities, each night when you stop doing some google searching for places to visit and planning the next day, or like I often used to do when doing a road trip, just driving at random and seeing what you can find, I have done that many times, taking a week off flying somewhere renting a car and just driving with no set destination other than getting out of the big city and seeing the smaller places and rural areas.
We use dot always do Corned beef and cabbage but not anymore but in spirit I will be having it lOL

Well, I will have some in your honor. :)

Yes! I agree with you there! There road less traveled is often the one that I want to be on. It has things that people don't see, or talk about or even photograph. I have discovered little known places this way!

You are so right!! No set destination works for me!

Exactly I have done that pretty much everywhere i travelled, head out of the main tourist spots and see the real city and or country, I even did that in Missions loved walking around and seeing the real side of the city, not always a sensible idea for safety but I had to do it for me lOL

I agree!! I have done that too and it is not always sensible, but, the other part of me wanted to see the real city or country, not what was spoon fed for the tourists.

I agree and there was once where I worried I had been stupid and shouldn't have gone so far in walking, but, it all worked out well and I lived to tell.

Thanks for sharing those stories with me, they are always fun to hear!

Whenever I see campers/caravans/trailers whatever they are called all I can think of is the cost of gas and my own hatred of driving. So, for me I'd rather spend the money on land, but I'm a bit of a 'stay at home' fuddy duddy.

These are like huge homes one wheels, I suppose when you found the place you loved (if that happened) you could just stop driving and ta-dah instant home. :)

I want it to tour all of the National Parks again. I have done it once and that was probably 15 years ago, this time, I want to do it slower and blog about it. They are actually small until you push out the sides (when stopped)

I never intend to live in one. I love my house and where I live too much. This was just a #MarketetFriday post pushing around different possibilities for me and other people looking at one.

But, I also value your opinion and you make a valid point. There is a lot of gas and the driving can be taxing. However, for me, discovering new things and places about this here globe... is exciting to me!

You have any idea what are the prices? Some of them look much better than my apartment, most of them

I took a picture of all of the price tags! ;)

Those RVs have just about become engineering marvels.

Unbelievably so, right? I must say that to go into them now is so different than when I last looked. The touches are more elegant and wow!

But, do we really need all that wow in a camper? I mean, it might be harder to keep it looking so fabulous! Thanks for stopping by #MarketFriday and taking the time to look. Very much appreciated!

Have a most fabulous weekend! It is almost upon us!

!tip

They do seem over the top for simple camping. However, I have seen them marketed as a retirement living option too. I think they’d make terrific tour “buses” for bands.

Thanks for the tip!

Truth, but, it does make touring around the National Parks a little bit more fun! :) I am not so much a sing around the campfire sort of gal. :)

I believe bands do use the more extravagant ones. In all reality, this was more of a fun time for #MarketFriday. Who knows what I will really get when the time comes!

OMG! It's like you're living my life!!! I have the same dream...I call it "Doing the Fitty in our Fitties" with my Beloved Stud Muffin. I've been to RV shows over the past few years and am blown away at what we can drive around in! I love the Leisure Travel Vans, but think we'll need something bigger. AND we are going to do Alaska, too. Are you aware of the Al-Can trail? I just discovered it last year. I just love your posts, Soul Sister!!! Oh, and thank you for the "tip" the other day...♥

Yes!!! The Al-Can Trail is the only way to go!!! I have Nine brothers and sisters and most retired by 40, some are retiring as they turn 50.

The RV shows are pretty cool and I have been to those, but, I went to Camping World this last week, and I was mildly surprised with the upgrades.

Alaska is probably next year as I don't want to stop working until this summer or maybe a bit later. But, too late to start a trip to Alaska that will most likely end up being a 3month round trip.

Thank you so much! I am so glad you are enjoying the posts! And I want to thank you for visiting #MarketFriday! I run it every Friday! :)

I remember, you explained to me about it :) you are right, there are too many TV sets)))) if a person decided to travel, then why should he have a lot of TV sets: he wants to see nature! ))))
ho ho !!!! I really got smarter lately: I guessed your riddle !!!! ))))))

Oh, my!!! Aren't they, Tali?? @tali72 They really are and I find them fascinating! I was really in love with that fact! Not having to depend on anyone for power? Oh, yes!

Way too many televisions! Oh, my!!! I want to enjoy nature, not television! I can see that anytime I want. The beauty of nature? Not so much! Two sinks in a house is one thing, but, in the trailer??? Oh, no!!!!

I am going to have to get smarter!! You are getting too good at these riddles! As always, it is always a pleasure to see your smiling face, or at least, your words are smiling. :)

Well i'm totally confused with all the choices! Haha. I was just thinking about going to Baja California when i was young and sleeping in a parking lot on the ground with just a sleeping bag! What was i thinking? Haha

Oh, I did when I was young, although not Baja... but Maine! I am so over that. Besides, I want to hit all the National Parks and Alaska.Do I look like I want to get eaten by something?

Hello?

Hey, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a most wonderful day!

Well i did make gradual upgrades over the years but nothing this nice. We used to go way down on the Pacific Coast of Baja. A little less than halfway down the peninsula and tent camping on the beach was really pretty nice with a couple of big foam pads under my sleeping bag. The only sounds were the waves breaking.

Now that sounds just like heaven!!! I can see the appeal to that!

What an amazing display of travel trailers! They all look very spacious and comfortable. We never have these marketed in Thailand!

It’s very difficult to choose the right one! They all have a very nice kitchen and bathroom. Just like a hotel room!
So, you are going to travel like gypsy in the old day!?

Posted using Partiko iOS

Hehe! Noooo! I will visit all of the States here in the United States and Canada but, on different trips from home. I want to use a travel trailer so that I can stay at the National Parks instead of a hotel. It will bring me closer to nature and it really is beautiful to travel this way.

I want to travel overseas in between and of course spend time at home. I guess nothing will change too much except that I will be leaving the working force. :)

Which is never a bad thing. Thank you for coming by!

You are so lucky to be able to put your plan into action! What a wonderful plan to be traveling to all the beautiful National Parks. You will need a lot of energy to plan and travel around the world!

It’s always everyone’s dream to be financially free and to leave the regular jobs!

Hope you’ll be able to enact your plan in the near future.

Made it to the end and loved it! The RV show was just here but I missed it this year. Some of those RV's are amazing but over the top for me. I agree on the fifth wheel RV's..just not a fan either. Sounds like you have some amazing adventures planned or should I say even more amazing than usual..lol. Hubby and I want a pop-up to start with but it seems "things" keep coming up just when we get ready to get serious about it but it will happen..all in due time.
I have a #marketfriday post this week too! https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@deerjay/market-friday-a-few-must-have-items-for-this-weekend

You know what? I think I would rent one for a few days and see how you like it. That way, there is no big investment and if you don't like it? No harm, no foul!

They are over the top!!! There are supposed to be camping and here it looks as fancy as some hotels.

I do have some amazing adventures planned - here in the States and overseas. This is such a big beautiful world we have here!Let's do it! Thank you so much for dropping a link here and for being a part of the #MarketFriday tag!

You're very welcome and thank you so much as well!!
That is an excellent idea and I will propose that to my husband. Yeah, some of them (most) are def more beautiful than our home..lol.
You already have many amazing adventures so I can just imagine how more amazing the ones coming up will be. Exciting times for sure!! xoxo

I think this will be a lot of fun and of course, I can hardly wait to make off on my first adventure! :)

I will probably rent also to see which will fit. Woo-hoo! And Happy St. Paddy's Day to you!

The first one looks so classy and looks so expensive. The space is very big and has all the comforts I could think of. It also looks so warm and cozy inside. I see you are getting ready for a road adventure of a lifetime. I am so excited for you and I say push thru it. Live life as it was meant to be. This is going to be exciting and life changing. I'll want all the details lol.

I know, right?? I think that if you have the opportunity to leave work early in life and enjoy yourself, one should!

I actually like working, but, this? This is so much better for me in so many ways! They are nice and a little on the expensive side, however, looking at the ones that are years older than these, most don't lose too much of their value- until they do. :)

This is just the beginning of the search! I may very well end up with a tent! Of course you will get all the gory and fun details!

Thanks for stopping by the #MarketFriday challenge~
