Sepia Saturday: Leaves, Tree's, and... Mushrooms!

in #sepiasaturday7 years ago

Greetings fellow Steemians!

It's that time again for the #sepiasaturday post! This is a challenge started by @old-guy-photos; if you'd like to see his awesome page, then give him a visit Here. Like my title suggested, I'd like to share some pictures that show some leaves, then maybe a tree, and if you are Morel mushroom lovers like we are... my mushroom photo should leave you with the fever!

Let's get to it!

Sunlight through the trees...

The Two Trees

In Valinor ere Sun or Moon
there shone a silver light:
a sprout was borne from pale green earth
that bore night's silver bloom,
and bursting forth grew yet more bright;
the source of Valmar's mirth.

In Valinor ere Dwarf or Ent
another tree was born,
and golden shone at once its light;
it spread a wholesome scent;
pale golden fruit did it adorn;
the mountains it ignite.

In Valinor ere Elf or Man
the Two Trees' light was mixed,
and never was more beauty seen;
the Years of Trees began;
their light into the gods' hearts fixed,
more lovely than foreseen.

In Valinor ere death or grief
the darkness came at last,
it cruelly slew the helpless Trees,
and drained them like a thief;
no longer was their clear light cast,
no longer did they ease.

In Valinor ere Sun or Moon
the tears flowed silver bright,
they washed a-clean the Trees forlorn:
enchanted was their bloom:
in Valinor in darkest night
the Sun and Moon were born.

This was taken with my older Samsung Galaxy Mega II; my son (@stealthunicorn) and I had started experimenting with certain "shooting" styles. I had just bent down to brush a tick off my leg, and hanging onto the tree, was graced with this beautiful shot... The poem seemed fitting because I do love the works of J.R.R Tolkien.

Daffodil's blooming despite the snow...

Even though it snowed today, and yes; it's March... I was able to get a quick shot of this daffodil while the wind had died down. It wasn't until I viewed my photo on Google Photos that I realized there were water droplets on the daffoldil... added little bonus!

A single leaf on the porch...

I had originally shared this image, in response to a question by my good friend @ecoinstant, but thought it would make a cool addition with the sepia filter added to it. We live in the country, so when we have food scraps left over, we are able to just dump them off in the woods at the tree line. As I was coming back to our trailer... I saw this leaf just sitting there on our porch, and like I always seem to experience; just had to take a photograph of it! To me, it almost seemed as if it was "floating" in mid air...anyway... to my final photograph!

A nice group of Morel mushrooms!

[This photograph was taken by my other half]

Several year's ago, we had the "motherlode" of a mushroom hunt! My other half's father had a location in the wood's that was notorious for producing morel mushroom's. That prior winter had been quite heavy, and when we started our trek through the wood's, we came across a clearing of pine trees. It would seem the pine needle's created a perfect "environment" for the mushroom's to grow... and they were "everywhere". I think we left with almost three pickle bucket sized loads; that was some GOOD eating for a few days!

I hope you have enjoyed my #sepiasaturday post. Be sure to take advantage of this wonderful challenge created by @old-guy-photos... hope you are all having a great Saturday! Thank's for stopping by!!

Great sepias! Thanks a bunch for jumping in the tag!

My pleasure indeed!! Quite a cool challenge to participate in; there really is something about the sepia effect on photos. Gives that old-time vibe... guess I am just getting old lol...

photos are pretty and the poem is I don't where it takes me, the meaning is far from my imagination.
