Network Printer Became Offline/Inactive and Cannot Browse Host Computer

in #esteem7 years ago

I have experienced these many times before and here I am again encountering this problem again on Windows 10.

I only experienced this type of problem only on Windows 10. Previous versions of Windows do not have this kind of problem.

Usually, this problem arises when a Windows 10 computer just installed an update, particularly Version 1809.

A user can usually find this problem if the computer tries to access a shared folder or printer hosted on a different computer. Whenever a user tries to access the host computer using its computer name it is inaccessible.

A user that want to connect to the printer or shared folder hosted on different computer have to use the IP address of the computer host in order to access the shared printer or folder.

I thought it was only a classic problem of SMBv1 being deprecated or being disabled after an update on Windows 10 but enabling SMBv1 does not fix the problem.

I tried to change the settings of these settings as some users said that it fixed the problem but actually produces varying results, these settings are:

*Function Discovery resource publication

*Function Discovery Provider Host

*SSDP Discovery

*UPnP Device Host

*DHCP Client

*DNS Client

*SMBv1

My version of fixing the problem

I just set the IP Address of the host computer and told users to use the IP Address whenever they want to connect to the host computer.

Additionally, previously connected users on a shared printer will find that the printer became offline or inactive, if this is the case, you need to reconnect to the printer by accessing the host computer using its IP Address.
