Fighting abuse on the steem blockchain is just as important as posting good content. If you are going to go AFK and not post for a while, I strongly suggest that you don't just let your vote power just sit at 100% and go untouched. There's a number of steemians that I notice have practically gone away and have also stopped using their voting power. This is where @steemflagrewards comes in. Not just for the rewards, but to fight against the abuse. Whether it's plagiarism, spam or bidbot abuse. Just to name a few.
The Retaliation

When I first started fighting abuse via @steemflagrewards it was a little more difficult. There was a lot less automation back then, and following a flag for abuse/whatever was mostly done manually. It has come to my attention that some people think that because it's a decentralized platform that it shouldbe like the wild wild west where anyone can do anything and no one should care. This is very counter productive if you want steem to succeed! After my first few abuse-fighting-flags, I received my first retaliatory flag from @camillesteemer. Now I don't know much about the history. Since camille is in this steem users name, we're gonna call her a her. She fights those who fight the abuse by flagging them, but don't worry, her upvote is worth 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. That's a lot of zero's, and that's a whole lot of no rewards taken away so I was never worried. What stopped me from flagging was the new day job.
My lack of participation in fighting the abuse stopped the flags from her for a while, but every now and then she'd toss one of her worthless flags my way. It was like a friendly reminder that I should be doing more to fight abuse. Thanks Camille! I was just too tired though. Well a few weeks ago she started flagging me again. Since that's happening, I may as well start flagging abuse and helping the @steemflagrewards crew with their battle!
Dude it's a bot
While I am fairly certain @camillesteemer is probably a bot, I am sure a living human monitors the account so some kind of manual work is done even if it's adding a name to a list or updating a script, so for the sake of who cares, we're gonna go with 50% bot and 50% human (I like to think she's watching somehow -- I see you Camille! You're silly!)
It's great how an abusive account flagging me can remind me that I should fight more abuse...so I went ahead and joined @steemflagrewards flagtrail. I didn't even know flag trails existed, and if you didn't either, now you do. Curation trails aren't the only thing running on this blockchain, baby! When she flagged me last week, I said that's it. I'm joining the flagtrail. It was quick, easy and painless to do so. Now my VP doesn't have to sit at 100% when I am too busy at work. I had set up a script to upvote my comments at 100% so as to not waste the vp. Two hours after an account hits 100%, voting power goes wasted so you can imagine how much rewards get lost when someone lets their account sit at 100% for days or weeks at a time. I used the self upvote script to tell me when I was full. When this happens in the morning when I'm at work there's just no stopping to curate though, so when I get home I just have a ginabot spam of self upvotes. I wasn't satisfied with that.
Look Ma! I'm Flaggin!

If you aren't already on the flag trail I think you should join. This is one of the best things you can do to protect the platform even if you're a little ol' plankton or minnow and apparently it upsets camille so you should expect a flag from it/her. Don't let it worry you though, as you can see above her flag is worthless and you should consider it as a love tap. Even if you do get flagged by some abuser with a heavier flag that thinks fighting abuse is wrong, @steemflagrewards has a solution for that. It's called a healing trail :D
So get up off your ass like your seats hot. Register for the flagtrail and be rest assured that you can now automatically fight abuse especially if you don't have the time to dig through posts to find it. I used to, but life has certainly gotten in the way and the limited time I now have I'd rather spend making posts or reading posts that are actually worth reading. Trust me, it's worth it! Check out @steemflagrewards and get in on the action via the SteemFlagRewards Abuse Fighting Community on Discord. You'll be glad you did your part when steem hits $1, $10 and $100!
What are you waiting for?
Steem on, Flag on!
When I joined Steemit I made the decision to always Power-Up my earnings. For now, payouts are set to 50/50 but you bet I will convert & Power Up! Besides internal transfers, I have never cashed out and don't plan on it! Power-Up only!
