Today is mothers day here in Ireland so we decided to bring my mother to Chez Hans Restaurant in Cashel Co Tipperary. The photo above is from the outside of the restaurant looking at the castle. Cashel is a famous historical town in Southern Ireland and the Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland's top tourist destinations. But enough about the silly castle. Close by is a restaurant called Chez Hans that has just started doing a Sunday Lunch Menu. Chez Hans is a renovated old church near the castle and it has been producing quality food a long time in the area. Chez Hans is pretty famous in the area because the restaurant received a coveted Michelin star not so long ago. There are not many Michelin star restaurants outside of our capital Dublin so many tourists and locals who are looking for great food flock to Chez Hans. The outside of Chez Hans.

What I love about Chez Hans is their warm welcome. You walk in and they sit you down in a lovely bar with a large fire as you await to be seated. Here they give you the menus so you can have a look and relax with a beer or some wine.
This is a real fire by the way. Not one of those fake ones.

The menus are normally top class but because this is a new Sunday Lunch , the Menu is done on paper. I can get over this if the food is good. Here is the menu.

Because the clocks have gone forward one hour last night and lunch was booked for 12. We were really eating at 11am. I opted not to have a starter but the beetroot risotto would of been my choice. I went for the Slow Roasted Dry Age Local Prime Beef Rib. The waitress asked me would I like it pink or well done. I liked the way they asked me this for prime rib as it doesn't happen often. I went for pink of course for more flavour.
My sister went for the chicken, my father , the lamb and my mother also the chicken. After ordering it was great to take in the surroundings. The setting was beautiful.

We were served some warm bream before the main course and then the main course arrived right on time. Here are the 3 main courses we selected.
The Beef.

The Lamb

The Chicken

I have to admit the chicken and the lamb looked more appetising than my beef but the beef tasted delicious and I was happy with my choice. Roast Potatos were served on the side of all the dishes.
All the meals were well received by everyone.

Now for the desserts. My sister went for the sticky toffee pudding. I went for the chocolate Royal and my dad went for the rice pudding and my mother went for the lemon posset. 4 diiferent desserts. Normally this doesn't happen.
My Sister's Sticky Toffee

My Chocolate Royal

My mother's Lemon Posset

My Dad's Rice Pudding

I have to concede that my chocolate royal was very heavy and I could not eat it all. Stuffed. My sister had a beautiful sticky toffee pudding with hints of ginger. I tried some. My mothers lemon posset looked beautiful. My dad went for the rice pudding but it didn't look like one. He is the older generation and scoffed it down.
The 2 courses came to €25 each which is very reasonable for a michelin star quality restaurant. 3 courses was €35. This didn't include wine of course but not alot of people would have wine on a Sunday lunch.
Overall I found Chez Hans as always to be excellent service and quality food and I recommend it to anyone visiting Cashel. Now to enjoy the rest of mothers day.
Thanks
