It's totally believable that Iceman is gay. You're straight for years, then one day you see the sun glinting off a spandex wrapped man bulge, and suddenly you're decorating lamps with frilly beady things! So basically Marvel is warning straight men that "being gay", can strike at any time...much like the ever lingering evil alien Marvel Universe baddies, the Skrulls! But wouldn't a gay character be flaming? Seriously though, why couldn't they just make a new gay character or give North Star his own book? Lame!
UNCANNY X-MEN: WINTER'S END is a one shot from Marvel that tries to once again portray a version of Iceman that was so hated, the last Iceman mini-series was canceled. Think about how bad sales have to be if a MINI-SERIES get canceled!. The artwork isn't very good either. The faces are not properly developed. And the anatomical perspective is wrong on many frames. Wow...90's comics were really the top of the heap!

So they have a character called Devil Dog that is gay? As a Marine, (once a Marine always a Marine), that's offensive! One USMC nickname is Devil Dog. And well, let me tell you...its not gay if you have to get naked, in a sleeping bag, with another Marine in Goose Bay Canada for cold weather training! Thats called a "cure for hypothermia training". OK, there's no way to prove there were boners inside those sleeping bags. But yeah...whatever. It's only gay if you snuggle after training! LOL!
It's funny that the spec ops unit I was in, during the 80s, was notorious for pretending to be gay as a way to freak out new Marines trying out for the unit. I can do the flamer accent, the big eyes, and pouty lips. One guy could do a gay walk so well, he had the entire platoon bent over gut laughing he was so funny. Damn...maybe he meant to bend us over. What sort of monster have I become? Well, not the kind that would fuck up Marvel characters with identity politics at least!
If you have not seen the classic lampooning of comic book super heroes with gay stereotypes, then treat yourself the The Tick (2001) episode called Couples. Its priceless!
