I know this might seem contradictory to my very critical ethical position about the structure of the steem ecosystem - but it's really not.

Success - in terms of steem - is the price of steem. There is no other objective metric.
I see that now - and I'm not blinded by my mis-preconceived ideas of what I thought it was. (or was going to be).
Success - in terms of steem - then becomes a time issue.
I have zero faith it will endure in it's current form, if we have freedom in the world.
I have 100% faith in it's success if we end up living in an authoritarian state.
I think it lies somewhere in between- in the short to medium term anyway.
(I'm an optimist by nature, I ain't changing).
So as far steem is concerned - or as far as I'm concerned- it's only the short to medium term that I'm looking at - or concerned about.
From today and for the next ten years or so, is the time frame I'm thinking about. Nothing past that.
People are stupid.
Not a person, but people. The mob. IQ points drop in direct correlation to the size of the mob, I recon.
Steem has a shiny shop front, and the mob loves nothing more than shiny baubles. 'Bread and circuses' is an old strategy, for a good reason. It works.
Quality of anything, is a secondary consideration to the mob - if it's nice and shiny.
MacDonald's for example.
How to get the stupid people to eat total crap and pay for it.
But it was phenomenally successful.
Mobile tracking devices - known as smart phones.
How to get people to pay for their own tracking device, while accumulating all the data the authorities need to use against you at a later date.. (ouch , sorry. truth is painful when living in the land of make believe).
Smart phones are phenomenally successful.
So why wouldn't steem be? It's a more attractive (shiny) proposition from other crypto's ...
It will be the macdonalds of the first crypto wave!
It will never - and can never be- an intellectual fine dining french restaurant , not with its current structure, it certainly cannot live within in a libertarian minded ecosystem.
It will fail when people see the reality of the non ethical structure.
For us to live in libertarian society - then ethics must ALWAYS be the template of business structure, - of society- and not the business structure deciding transitional ethics, that maximize the bottom line.
This has been the problem so far.
This 'cloudy ethics' will have to change - and business practice will change also . Either that - or authoritarian totalitarianism will take it's place.
So yes... steem will grow, in my opinion - but never fool yourself as to the reasons why.
That's delusional.

Take profit from the mob, if that's your wish.
When we have a 'free thinking' world, then there is no way Steem can actually survive in that environment.
Non meritocratic oligarchical structures , will not survive the new paradigm shift that's coming our way.
They are the very reason that we're in the shit today.
For me personally it's not a problem.
I have the luxury of being free debt now, not a slave to anyone - and in five years or so, being pretty wealthy (monetarily I mean)also.
That's if the stock market doesn't drop more than 47%, before then. (Which I'm not to sure about, tbh - but not too stressed about either - Money isn't my god).
So where does that leave me in relation to steem(it)?
I dunno.
I have some very conflicting thoughts about this one...
All are interesting options though.
Some are much better for steem, than others...
....After joining gab yesterday - and already talking to someone from steem(it).....There are some devious little fuckers in these parts. Those who think that they're being clever by working behind the scenes and manipulating some emotionally led sheep...
Things are most certainly not what they seem.....(which illustrates perfectly, my perspective of a non ethical structure always leading to being a corrupt power grab..)
.....I'll save that till my next post...
I'll lay out my options, as I see them - and see what you all think...
It's all become very interesting though - especially after my gab 'private messaging' yesterday, with the other steemit member, and listening to what they had to say...
Feel free to say 'hi' on gab if you're there.
Any PM's will be in the strictest confidence unless permission is given to use the info.
Those pesky ethics are strong in @lucylin...
