We will never know for sure but it looks to me like they met their demise there. They really thought they were invincible after getting away with so much.
The landscape sure looks barren and unforgiving.

        Howdy again redheadpei! Yes I agree with you. They had gotten away with it for so long that they never thought they'd get caught. That's a harsh country up there! Makes Texas look like paradise.
