In this weekend engagement organised by @galenkp, I'm taking my mind back to my school days, because there was this excuse that I made that has been on me until today, this is what happened, it was on Wednesday, so normally I had biology class in the lab, where the teacher would take all the students there to examine some organisms.
And the organism we used in the lab that day was a snake, not one, but many snakes, about three, our teacher took them all out of the jar because he wanted to show examples among all the snakes, I was not in the mood to touch any snake, because the three snakes looked very alive, they irritated me, so I excused myself by saying I had a bad headache and I had to go to the hostel to take a nap, the teacher approved it and I left.
My classmates laughed at me because they knew my excuses were not real, but I was afraid of the three snakes, it was then that the teacher realised that my excuses might not be true, I didn't know that he had seen when my classmates laughed, so that day when I was in his office to sign my textbook, he asked me if my excuses were really true, that day or if I was afraid of the snakes he brought to the lab, I couldn't stand it anymore so I smiled and he told me that I shouldn't be afraid of snakes, especially the ones in the lab, they are not dangerous, they may look alive but they are not.
From that day my biology teacher became a good friend of mine, he appointed me as his class representative, my classmates did not know that the teacher had appointed me as his class representative, so when we met again in the lab the next week, he called me to step forward and gave the news to the class, he gave me the names of my classmates to call them and give them their homework, they were all surprised at my duty.
But from the day of my appointment as the course representative, I became very punctual in biology classes and I started to like organisms, I was no longer afraid of anything, because the teacher's office was closed to the lab and every time I went to the biology teacher's office, I will passed through the lab, where snakes and others dangerous organisms were kept in a jar, I realised that some excuses we made brings a good turn, in changing our mentality towards things that we are afraid of.
