How To Make Chinese-Style Fried Breadsticks 🥖 Great With Soy Milk Or Coffee ☕️

Today I wake up early in the morning to make Chinese bread sticks for my husband to enjoy with coffee, but in this recipe we need to keep the dough for three hours. So I am a little bit late, but we enjoyed eating them with soy milk. It’s simple ingredients but not easy to make it because if we do something wrong it’s not good breadsticks.

It’s not too hard if we make it right. I like to eat it with rice porridge. I made these two times already here. When I lived in Cambodia I have never made it because the people make it and sell at all the markets and near the street in some places too. It’s cheap, for 4 bread sticks is only 50 cents, and they are bigger than mine.

👩‍🍳 Chinese Bread Sticks (Ital) Recipe 🔪

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water
  • oil for fry

This dough is after three hours.

I put flour in a pot and add salt, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and mix well. Then pour water a little and stir it well and pour water all and stir it. Then use hand to knead it well maybe two minutes.

Then pour oil on it and knead it again until dough is soft. After cover and rest 15 minutes. After 15 minutes knead it again for two minutes and spread a little oil on it. Cover and rest again for two to three hours.

Pour a little flour on cutting board and put dough on cutting board. Pour little flour on dough and use roti roller to roll it like that.

Then cut them like big size or small size as we like. I cut them are short and small size because don’t need use more oil for deep fry.

After you've cut them already, take one piece, then use a wet chopstick to press it just like in the picture.

Now take another piece of dough and put it on top. Use achopstick to press down on it a little bit. Do it the same until all are done. For me I did two batches for this dough.

When I am making dough I heat oil also, do like this after we made already we can deep fry it fast. I put a little dough for know it’s good hot for deep fry or not yet.

We need to pull the dough a little and fry until brown. We can fry them three at a time if the pan is big, but don’t fry too many at one because it won't work.

Then remove them from oil and put on paper.
