I almost agree with your thoughts but at the oposite side I need to say that I saw your post just thanks to promotion.
Honestly at last time I read posts from trending page just because I can't read all articles at New posts page. But at other side I am agree with you that in case if whales and other big fishs support newbies it would be more honestly to them and they(newbies) won't give up and continue create I need sometimes quality posts.
And one more negative thing that with this promotion services we see disbalance of reputation and SP which recieve minnows when they are using bidbots and promotion services.
So here we are...

        Thanks for shareing your opinion.
        Yes i had to use it because if i didnt make it than it will dont get any atention.

        And i am really happy that now i can read and answer few comments.

        In the past few days me also i check the trending page but straight after that i go to the rising and new posts.
        Sometimes i find there more interesting contents. And they are really really ignored many times.
        And this is because everyone sell they votes and they dont want to vote for them or because the content creator dont have money to boost. Which is quiet sad i think.
        If i check the numbers that there is 1.2 million account registered and from that 50k is active. 🤔 So something is wrong i think.
        My plan is to make more posts about this or similar topics because i think it will helps to grow our community.
        Just we have to change lil bit our mindset. Dont focus that much for the present but more for the future. And i am sure if we give more attention to the new users ( planktons or minnows ) also the price of steem will grow and it will be easier to onboard new users.

              You know not only vote-selling but let's don't forget about low RC of newbies who just came to platform after last HF.
              Of course some of them maybe just playing in Steem Monsters or Drug Wars.
              But any way newbies with low RC can't create many comments and content and it's negative.

              About growing up community I think as good example I can mention @crypto.piotr who tries to help to people who create good content or community.
              So let's hope for the best future! And do every thing what in our power!

                    Yes piotr doing a really good job. I also try to support it if i have time.
                    But also i am thinking that i will try something to do to make this better. Because we are the steem we are the one who can make changes. Just have to open the eyes of other users as well.
                    And lets be honest piotr is not enought alone.

                          Yes I know that there are other people who also try to support good content creators. I mentioned him as example.
                          Of course we have many curation trails at such services like autovoter or SteemEngine.net and discord channels but it'll be good if once there will be such trail where people can decide/nominate together as community not only somebody one for whom upvote not only for rewards but for good post. Hope once we'll have such one. And minnows can grow more organic!

                                The best way to do something "better" is by working with others who share similar goal. It's more fun and more efficient :)

                                                  Dear @travoved

                                                  I'm seriously wondering who even care about checking trening page. Most users seem to be unable to even keep up with their newsfeed and it's quite obvious that trending page doesn't really do much.

                                                  To give you and @gabbynhice an example: I tried 2 times to post something, boost it to trening and only 2 days later promote it via mass memos. Trending brought me only few comments. Sending memos? Always 50-100 if not more.

                                                  Perhaps it's worth considering this way of reaching to your audience.
