As to geopolitics, I'm not sure that the support you point out is ideological rather than realpolitik in nature. Russia has enemies, and those enemies also support particular governments I am sure we also will agree aren't shining examples of virtue.
That means Russia needs friends, and there's a very real truth to the old adage 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' Not sure such necessities imply that Russia is Communist and won't invest money in Steem - or anything else.
China is actually Communist and they do plenty of investing. BTW, if you're calling me a Socialist, you could not be further from the truth. Phyllis Schlafly of the Eagle Forum once spoke with me on political matters and called me an ultraconservative.
