It's kinda horrible here at the moment, politicians and media turning the tragedy into a circus :( But I hope people will learn to follow the NZ leadership.... And yes, I hope people will be able to learn from this and develop empathy. They are also going to tighten up gun laws here, so at least that's a right action path, I think....
