Well it seems that lately there have been some dramas surrounding the game DrugWars.
While I'm honestly not in a position to complain about the game since I still haven't invested a single dime on it and is basically just leeching off some Steem on it, I'm still gonna shamelessly share my opinions about this game. XD
When I first read a blog post from someone about this game it really intrigued me. "Oh another game built on top of Steem and one that free players like me has the potential to earn some free Steem from it" is what I thought and while that is indeed true, after playing the game a day or two I question the overall sustainability of the game long-term.
For one, it is obvious that they are very heavily reliant on players in order to have a decent amount of $$$ in the pool. "More players who opt to use Steem to insta upgrade their buildings = more $$$ in the pool" and that is fine but with the limited amount of Steem account that are active (which I think is only around 10k-15k daily) and if you exclude the bots, the spammers, the non-gamers and the free2play players like me, I think only a few people left don't mind spending some Steem to insta-upgrade their buildings or troops.
The question then arises: What happens when the majority of those players have already maxed out their building upgrades?! then there will be less Steem deposited and the pool shrinks!!! Which I think was actually what happened in the last few weeks as I saw the pool going from $3500 USD to $920 USD now. (Although I've read that they have been changing the way the rewards are distributed?! Like decrease percentage on daily rewards and heist rewards but the game is still heavily reliant on players depositing Steem)
Anyway, personally I don't really like the new proposed(?) or incoming update that will make our liquid Steem rewards to these so called FUTURE tokens. Objectively though I think it will make the game proceed forward. It's just that the majority of players question the value of these tokens. I mean why would anyone buy those?! XD
It's another story if one can exchange it for liquid Steem or exchange it for upvotes from the DrugWars account but after seeing that account's SP I don't think that will ever happen.
I did notice Fundition helping them though so maybe they can tap that account's VP?! It's very unlikely and honestly will put Fundition in a bad light but I am just really glad that I did not put any Steem on this game. :)
I do hope that they would find another approach to their problems though and get in a direction that will benefit both players and the game developers.
