This post will informed you about my activity before iftar this afternoon at 16:30 PM in my village, Lhok Awe Teungoh, Indonesia. I harvested the Jamaica Water Apple or Jamaica Guava with my older cousin. I just planted a tree of the fruit in front of my house.
The Jamaican Water Apple thatwe know here as Guava of Bol. This is one of the original commodity fruit from Indonesia. The name of Jamaican Water Apple is a popular fruit in Indonesia. This fruit is one of the most favorite fruits here. The high of a tree of Jamaica Water Apple in front of my house is only about 13 meters. The tree has lush branches and making it suitable for providing shade in the yard. We picked around 50 Jamaican Water Apple this afternoon and there are still many reddish purple flowers. It will take another month before we can harvest the fruit again.
I love eating Jamaican Water Apple because the flesh is dense and has a soft, savory, and sweet taste. People here are really like to eat this fruit because of its delicious taste and it is one of the most popular guava fruits in Indonesia. The price is indeed more expensive than other types of guava.
I can inform you that almost every house in my village has a tree of Jamaica Water Apple. It thrives here because the soil is fertile. You can plant this Jamaica Water Apple by using seeds or grafts.
Currently, I wrap some fruits that still small, I unripe them using plastic bags so that they don't get eaten by the squirrels and falling off easily.

Usually in May I see many of flowers on the Jamaican Water Apple tree until June. And three months later started from September, the fruits can be harvested. After that we can pick the fruit for the next few months. Jamaica Water Apple can bear fruit smoothly when the rainy season arrives. In the dry season, there are not many guava fruit. I can say that the Jamaica Water Apple is really suitable for planting in areas with high rainfall.
