Sunset in Suriname 🌤 Out with Friends

I don't often take things for granted, but one thing I did take for granted is apparently the amount of time I got to spend with my friends before Covid. Another thing that falls in this category is a bit more obvious and that is going outside and enjoying the beauty that nature has to offer. One of
the past weekends we got to do both. We went out with friends while enjoying the view of a beautiful sunset. ☀️

We used to be able to have these "meetings" on a whim wherever and whenever. But that all changed in march. Well, at least now we're able to do something.

So we went to the other side of the Suriname river to one of our cities/districts called Commewijne. A friend has been busy with a business venture which also has a bar and an over water wooden structure that has this exact view.

Once the drinks started coming in, the stories started coming out. One after the other. The emotions and ambience made me realize how much I actually miss spending time with those bastards. Each moment I stopped to take a picture of the sunset and where it was in it's process.

And then when it finally set, it was time to go back home and wait for the next carefully planned event amongst friends.

What are some that you took for granted?

WOW, that is the beautiful sunset. I never see the sunset at the river before. I hope you have a very good time with your friends.

Thank you. :)
It's definitely something you should see.
I had a really good time with my friends, but it's been 2 weeks already, so I hope to see them again soon and have more fun.

Okay, I hope you have a good time with them next time you see them.

Well, a lot of things.
But a lot of things were unnecessary too.
I now believe that there are many things that can be streamlined at work and not everyone is needed.
I now believe that a lot of meetings are a waste of time.
We don't have to shop too much.
We can prepare food from home....
Oh, you got me started.

This is true. The amount of money I've saved is great, from not having to spend on gas to go to and from work and not buying the occasional lunch at the office, and yet I still get all the work done from home.

Some of those online meetings are indeed a waste of time! Just like some of the people talking in them. 😅

Nice 🌅

Well it’s really funny how things are here. We were having BBQs and park chilling all through the lockdown. What I took for granted was seeing people’s faces. I can’t even tell if that girl walking by is actually cute or it’s just her eyes 😆. A lot of the times the eyes really do it fir me though 😆

Another thing is the ability to travel abroad. We can go but it’s such a hastle now. First it was 9/11 that brought in major restrictions and now Covid.

And lastly the way goods used to move globally fast.

Eyes can do a lot for a person, especially when they stare directly into your soul.

Mannnnn, that not-being-able-to-travel thing really hits hard, especially since I pretty much do anything I do with my main life goal of traveling in mind. I was planning a big Eurotrip this December, but that will have to wait now.

I've only crossed that bridge one time, but haven't seen a sunset on the river yet in Suriname. Our universe is so small her, limited to where we can walk until something changes.

Hope to link up with you and Tanja soon. We are nearly ready to get legally married here, and after we have have that and criminal police checks, we are looking at Mauritius, Ethiopia, or Nepal, as we can't return to Cambodian or immigrate to the USA.

The Suriname river has some of the best sunset spots, especially further down south. And the best one I've seen in Suriname is at Isadou island while sitting in a water stream.

Oh, nice that the immigration plan is coming along. Why is the US difficult again? I think you told me already, but I forget. My bad.
Yeah, we should definitely do something, even if it's just a quick visit. Let me talk it over with @tanjakolader.

Hello @rarej
Great photos you've shared.
The reality is that this year has been so particular in many aspects, that sharing among friends was surely very well enjoyed, we must continue to take care of ourselves, but brother, we must enjoy life.
Nice sunset.
