Here is my entry for @psos new challenge: Music A to Z Challenge #K

  • 2 Bands starting with the letter K, my choices are:

1) Koalas Desperados

Style: Reggae / Hip-Hop / World Music
Planet: Earth

Koalas Desperados are not a band but a collective of 30 musicians from all over the world. Their songs range from Reggae to Hip-Hop and even include styles such as Fado and Flamenco.

This is a highly creative and talented group of musicians and in the song Tempu - a deliberate mispelling of Tempo, the Portuguese word for Time - the main participations are from a Rapper called Yves "Korbo" Khoung, who was born in Burkina Faso and raised in Montpellier, France... and a Portuguese artist which refuses to be labeled under a single musical genre. He goes by the artistic name Bezegol.

Most of the song is in Portuguese... and there's a part in another language, which I assume is one of the 70 languages spoken in Burkina Faso. Here's the videoclip for Tempu:

In the next song Bezegol teams up with Jaqee and Nubla.

Jaqueline Nakiri Nalubale (or Jaqee) is a singer born in Kampala, Uganda who immigrated to Sweden in 1990. Just like Bezegol, she claims to be a "musical chameleon" and not limited to a single musical style.

Luciana Carlevaro, also known as Nubla, is a composer, singer and musical producer born in Barcelona, Spain.

Here's their live performance from 2010, in Frankfurt, from the song Keep Marching. This song is in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

2) Katzenjammer

Style: Folk Rock
Country: Norway

This interesting band from Norway was introduced to me by @fyrstikken and I loved it upon listening the first seconds of the song A Bar In Amsterdam.

The group is formed by three girls: Anne Marit Bergheim, Solveig Heilo and Turid Jørgensen. It's a very interesting style which reminds me the crazy style of Balkan Folk played by Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra.

Their voices are very sweet and catchy and fit perfectly to the music.

Here's the Official Videoclip for the song A Bar In Amsterdam. Enjoy!

I hope you have liked these 2 groups. 😁

Hola, hay musica para todos los gustos, te cuento que la mayoria de los que presentas no los habia escuchado.
Me gusto la forma de presentar todas las participaciones en el reto.
Un gusto saludarte.

I try to show more obscure bands. My guess is that the mainstream ones are already known by nearly everyone... so what's the point? 😁

Thanks for your visit!

Well, as long as you like it, it's okay to show unknown or new faces. Particularly in this challenge I am showing my musical preferences.
Greetings happy weekend

good music the sounds are lovely to okay a music collective is a fairly large group ..
I like its versatility and creativity to include various musical rhythms. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, they are all over the place. Both literally and musically! 😄

These are food one, love them ❤

I'm glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for stopping by!

Koalas Desperados - I don't understand a word they are singing but I do love their reggae vibe :)

In the second song it's mostly English. You should understand that one! 😂

For the first you'll need to use a translator and even then, some parts might not be easy. He uses a bit of local slang! 😉

Thanks for your visit.

Interesting the Katzenjammer (Kattengejammer in Dutch)... we wouldn't call that music.

Happy listening. 💕

Ah. It means cat music or something like that. Right?

Thanks for stopping by.

Yes, the crying of cats at night... I don't have them here just barking dogs. 🥴

That was some interesting music, especially 2 and 3. Though I couldn’t understand the Portuguese of the first two, be sure it was reggae /hip-hop their vibe made me kinda get what they were talking about.

That A bar in Amsterdam, the main phrase /melody , I like it, it will be in my head for a while. Very rare music.

Hi! Thanks for the visit.

Ah... that's understandable. Portuguese is not a very known language in most parts of the world, even if it's the 4th most spoken language in the world.

That second band is a new discovery for me as well... I can't believe I never heard of them before.

Interestingly I hear it often as many Brazilians are here but they just talk it in front of me when they don’t want me to understand stuff 😅 .

( I had to go google Burkina Faso )

Yeah, we're sneaky like that... but sometimes it goes wrong, when we assume the other people aren't Portuguese... and they really are. They wait for us to talk and in the end they embarrass us by saying something like "I'm also Portuguese, you know? So you can keep talking because I understood everything you said." 🤪
