THE BEST OF REHEARSALS ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am currently a choirmaster in my church, leading a group of youths who were not choristers before. Well, there are a few of them who were formerly in the choir before joining the youth group. But that is not suppose to make things easier. Teaching a group of novices how to sight-read; it was no easy job, but we did it.

I will be sharing the result of our first rehearsal with you here today; but please do not forget that we are mostly novices, and make sure you apply fairness while critiquing our performance ๐Ÿ˜€. Meanwhile, critiques are highly appreciated. I would really love to know how we performed, and I cannot do that without getting sincere comments from you guys.

It was no easy job to bring them all out. Funny enough, all of this is for the preparation of our soon-to-come "Youth Week" celebration. It has been decided that we, the Youth of the Parish, shall take complete charge of the liturgy on the day of our grand finale, which will be on a Sunday. I am originally the assistant Choir Master of the Parish, so it was no difficult thing to put me in charge of the Youth choir. In our last Youth meeting, everyone was so sure that I am the perfect man for the job. On my own side, that was not shocking, but the fact that they want me to turn novices who have never been choristers in their lives into musicians was.

At first, I thought it was an impossible mission, but the result of these very rehearsals kind of changed what I thought. If we continue with this pace, we will eventually reach where I thought we may never reach. It was a Tuesday evening; the previous Tuesday to be precise, and it was our first day of rehearsals. The generator of the Church was supposed to come up by 7:00 pm for the night, but for some reason, it never did. We were, as a matter of fact, first discouraged by the fact that there was no light in the church, yet we agreed to continue regardless. To my greatest surprise, it eventually came out really well.

The short video was made by the Youth president, who is also a good chorister and a keyboardist. Nevertheless, it was kind of late, and the faces were not, as a result, captured properly. But it was enough evidence that we did well, enough evidence that my new recruits who have absolutely no experience of music made me proud ๐Ÿ˜Š. Along with every other person who was there, I was happy; not just because we performed well, but because what I thought was not possible actually was.

In all, we were able to perfect a song in a period of about one hour and thirty minutes. Though the voice production as well as the harmony is not yet perfected, it was a good start, and that was enough to put smiles on my face. Even with the yet-to-be-perfect performance we pulled off, it was, to me, a perfect one. You needed to see my face on that very day ๐Ÿ˜Š.
