Excellent point, very well made. I have not had chance to look into Palnet yet, but your example just proves what I already believed that the changes in the next hard fork will have a positive effect on the Steem Blockchain. But I think it is just human nature to perceive receiving less in the short term without considering the long term gains.

That short term thinking stuff kicks a lot of people in the butt. On Palnet, we get proof of concept, but there's still a long ways to go yet; still early in the game. People will need to decide now: Stake now and earn more later, or earn now and complain later about having nothing. People have the perfect opportunity to learn from history.
If/when these changes come into effect on steemit, it'll be slow going at first. That first little while might be enough to trigger some people into freaking out, again, because of the short term memory problems.
