DIGITAL MISTAKES

in Digital Lifestyle13 days ago
The digital era in which we are living has no doubt made things easier for the human person, but then, one might as well need to trade with a certain level of carefulness, considering how sophisticated transactions have become. With respect to bank transactions, I have on a few occasions fallen victim to not being careful enough. While I was able to trace and correct some of these mistakes, recovering my lost funds in the process, some of these mistakes have cost me my money. Despite how amusing some of them might sound, I will be sharing some of these transaction mistakes with you.

A TRANSFER TO A WRONG ACCOUNT: Up to date, I am yet to believe that it was I who made that mistake. I am usually the type that would cross-check and inquire from a POS agent before concluding my transfer with them; but this time, I did not. It all happened so fast; before I realised what was happening, I had made a transfer of sixteen thousand naira (about ten dollars) to a wrong account. It happened that I was travelling to Benue State, and I was at Benue Links Park in Port Harcourt to pay for my bus ticket. Realising that the park management only accepted cash, I had to use the nearby POS. To cut the long story short, I lost my money in the process. Contacting my bank, there was not much they could do since the transfer was made to a different bank. I did all I could; I even contacted the bank I transferred to, yet the money was not recovered. I was later asked to obtain a court statement by my bank, but I eventually decided not to go through the stress, considering the fact that it was just sixteen thousand naira that was lost.

A WRONG RECHARGE: It was around 2018; I wanted to recharge myself a thousand naira, only to end up adding an extra zero. Then, ten thousand naira was far more valuable than it has now become; and so it was just too much for someone of my status to recharge at one go. A friend of mine recommended an app that could help swap the recharged amount for money, but coupled with the fact that I did not trust them, their charge was twenty percent of any amount that was to be swapped. Their charge was no doubt too much, and I backed out. I was later able to transfer to some friends who gave me the cash equivalent, while I used the remaining amount for data subscription.

There are a few more to my mistakes with regard to bank transactions, but I will be stopping here. One thing is certain: technology has come to stay, and it has so many benefits to offer. We cannot, as a matter of fact, dismiss these benefits simply because of some level of carefulness that is demanded of us. I love you all, and I would love to get your beautiful comments. Make sure to tell me what you think about these mistakes of mine. One Love ✌️

it was just sixteen thousand naira that was lost.

Tell me you're rich without tell me you're rich😂
If that happened to me, I don't know what I would've done.
I don't think anyone haven't been a victim of this kind of thing. We just have to be more careful

I am now rich ooo😅
Those guys wasted my airtime on several occasions, wasted my time, and they were latter demanding for a court statement😀. Funny enough, I will still have to pay to get the statement

I love how you're honest about those moments when even the most careful of us slip up. That bus transfer gone wrong? Yikes, that's a tough one especially with banks being limited on what they can do afterward.

And the recharge mistake? Lol, I can relate. Those extra zeros have haunted me before. But you're right - technology is here to stay, and with it comes a need for extra caution

At the end of the day, it's all part of the learning curve

You are absolutely correct @kristabel123, there is indeed a need for extra caution while dealing with technology. Thank you so much for stopping by 🤗
