NBA: Lakers officially out of the Playoffs

in #sports7 years ago

The Lakers disappointing season has ended, everybody expected the Lakers to at least make the playoffs this year with the signing of LeBron James, but it proved to be a disappointing season for the Lakers. The Lakers got eliminated in the playoffs race with a loss to the Brooklyn Nets, headlined by former Laker D'Angelo Russel.

Brooklyn outlasted the Lakers 111-106, the Lakers 10th loss in 11 games. D'Angelo Russel had the last laugh with 21 points, 13 assists, and 3 steals to power the Nets over his former team. Russel was traded away 2 years ago to the Brooklyn Nets. The move was to pave the way for the Lakers to have space when they draft Lonzo Ball. Russel is proving everybody wrong with his performances for the Nets, as he also made his first All Star appearance.

The Lakers still have 10 games left to play, I think they should just rest LeBron to prevent further injuries and let the young guys play and develop. The last time the Lakers appeared in the playoffs was in 2013 so 6 years for the Lakers of losing seasons.

Disappointing indeed :(

Ordinarily, I would agree on resting Lebron. However, his long term goal is to catch Kareem on the all-time scoring list. These 10 games could make a big difference over the course of the next 3 years. Most would say "how could 10 games help?" That is another 280 points he can add to his total.

Well I think it is up to him to decide that. He is already playing limited minutes at the moment.

I think this is also the first season where he had missed so many games in his NBA Career so it is also a point.
