In the past, Afrobeats was not well known as a Nigerian music genre, but a few years ago things started to change and now it is one of the most popular music genres in the world.
The essence of this exhibition is to explain how the fame of this music genre has made Nigerian culture known to the world. It was not like this before, but I see on the internet how Nigerian artists are achieving many consecutive successes in their music career, collaborating with many international artists and gaining international recognition.
This is as a result of putting much work into the music genres and as such, Afrobeats Nigeria/African music genres have spread all over the world and the importance of this is that, it is helping Nigeria to expose its culture and Nigerians at the same time to learn from other people's way of life.
Music is life, Afrobeats music genres were started by Fela, that is why there is no Nigerian or African artist that does not visit Fela's family to show humility and respect to Fela's shrine.
Thanks to the collaboration of many Nigerian artists with many international Artistes in music, through it, here in Nigeria we see the lifestyle of other artists they sing with and it has helped us to know what is going on in the world at all times.
The culture of people are the beliefs that make those people stand out wherever they are, I believe that there is no person in this world without a culture, because this culture is the pillar of our entity that is known to others through the way we talk, sing or relate to one another.
Today I see many Nigerians with dreadlocks and this hairstyle in some parts of the country is not allowed because the police might stop you and tell you that you are this and that, because it is not our culture but a hair style we are trying to copy.
I think that with time, seeing people with this kind of hairstyle will stop being a problem, but what is needed is time to get over it and see it as a normal way of life.
But if the hairstyle is made by artists, nobody is going to harass them anywhere, because artists are known to go to other places and have learned from other people's culture, through their collaboration with other international artists.
