In Jamaica while at Emancipation Park in New Kingston, I saw these two lovely ladies wearing traditional Jamaican dresses. Not everyday we get to see these pieces so I knew I had to get a snap.
The ladies were more than happy to pose up:)
In Jamaica these dresses are called Bandana Skirts. But throughout the Caribbean there are similar styles and they are called Quadrille in Dominica and Haiti. It is Worn during the Quadrille dance.
Traditional The Bandana skirt is made out of red and white cotton plaid. Men wear similar shirts made from the fabric and white pants.
The traditional wear is usually worn at cultural festivals and during dance showcases. But this day I’m not sure what these ladies were up to. I personally would like to see more of the Bandana dress:)
