It's been long I recite on books I kept at home, and most reasons is due to numerous duty's I set to do, but today, I heard a cockroach crawling on the bookshelf and then I got there, but I didn't see any cockroach, it was this book called, Understanding Public Administration that I saw right there on my face, just like, it was kept there for me to come and have a recite of it.
Understanding Public Administration was one of the courses I studied In higher institution, precisely in my year two, it was a course I consider the easiest for me, starting from the first time, the lecturer came into the class and introduced the course, it was just like, i have been aware of the course even before he appeared in front of us.
It was one of the course I became a tutor to my follow coursemates, because they do come to me, and asked me, to enlighten them, on what I understand about this course, and from there, I got to know that, even when the course was so easy to me, it wasn't like that to some of my course mates.
The main focus of this book is that, it focuses on administration, and then it goes down slowly to the angle of the public administration. Administration is a complex body, so there is a very good needs to understand it.
I could remember in my early times In school, I was finding it so hard to understand what's administration itself, whenever I hear of administration, I tends to look at the files, signing and wearing of corporate attires aspects alone, and then, I was better informed that, administration, in a simpliest terms, is a connectivity of space for a purpose.
In this book, i was able to see that, although the duty's of an administrator remains the same, the contexts in a private and a public isn't the same, take for Instance, in the private sector, you are dealing with fewer numbers of people and in the public, the numbers of people who come to you are not few but more than fewer in number.
Yet, this book has nothing to contribute in the private angle of an administrative performance, it focuses mainly on the duty's of the public. And then, reading this book just now, has just reminds me of the lecturer who handled us this course in school, he was the HOD of the department and a good friend of mine.
He was one of the lecturer who maintained a blissful relationship with the student's, and it was through the way he interact with us, that makes me understand that, the way a teacher interacts with his students will show on the lessons the student's received in the class.
Moreover, in this course, it was the first course In the school, that I was appointed a course representative, and which I play my role very well, because I gave a listening ear to my fellow coursemates.
All this came into my mind just by reading this book just one more time.
I kept books that excites me like this separate in my bookshelf, because I know what I gained by reading them, and the things I will still gain by reading it over again.
