Hello Music Lovers ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's week #58 on @afritunes and for this week I will be doing the cover of a song by Asa titled "Bibanke" which means "When I Cry"
Sometimes we shed tears of joy when we receive good news or when somethings go the way we want them to but often times, we cry out when we are deeply hurt especially by someone we love.
Bibanke tells a tale of a lost love between two people and I can say it can be very sad when you feel the love is fading or no longer there. You do everything to rekindle the feelings and to make them notice you but it's just not working.
You then begin to wonder what might have happened. Did you hold on too tight ? Were they suffocated by your love ? Was it real on their part or just a make believe ?
You cry so much when they finally leave and in time you realize you have to let them go for your own sanity.
Some parts of the song are in Yoruba and I will be leaving a brief interpretation in the lyrics below;
I wake up, I see you as you leave
I feel it, I see it as you leave
When we kiss I want deep
But you're far away
Bi m ba n ke bo ban shun fi mi si le (When I’m crying, if it becomes a flood, leave me alone)
Bim ba n ke bo jo ba n ro fi mi si le (When I’m crying, if it rains, leave me alone).
He use to be my every thing
Treated me like I was a queen
What spell did you cast on me?
Or is it the make believe
You say girl never be afraid
Of ever, ever loving me
Those words I hung on too
Oh God, I was a fool
You became my bad habit keeping up appearances
So you could notice
Even when you suddenly picked your things and left the keys
That's crazy
Bim ba n ke bo mi ban shun fi mi si le (When I’m crying, if it becomes a flood, leave me alone)
Bim ba n ke bo jo ba n ro fi mi si le (When I’m crying, if it rains, leave me alone)
Bi ba n ke o ko kun basia fi mi sile
(When I'm crying, even if it fills the basin, leave me alone, please)
Bi m ba n ke o, ko kun ba si a, ko kun ba si a (When I'm crying, even if it fills the basin...)
Mo ti foro mi fo lu wa ko sho, ko sho wa (I have surrendered my issues to God, May He guard us)
Mo ti foro mi fo lu wa ko sho, ko sho wa (I have told my issues to God, May He guard us)
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho (You, you alone)
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo, Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo nikan shosho
Iwo nikan shosho
Oh, when I'm crying, when I'm dying
Just leave me alone
I can cry a river or a waterfall
Just leave me alone, leave me alone
Moti f'oro mi f'oluwa o (I have surrendered my issues to God…)
