Hello amazing people of the Hive Open Mic Community! This is Hive Open Mic Week 274, and I’m @akwash360. In this week’s rendition, I found it meaningful to do a cover of the song “Jesus Power, Super Power.”
This is a song I’ve loved from childhood, especially during my Sunday school days. It’s one of those powerful and memorable songs that sticks with you even as you grow older. Interestingly, the version we sing in Nigeria is quite different from the other versions I’ve seen online. In our local version, after declaring "Jesus power, super power," we respond with "Mami water power, yeye power," referring to a Mermaid. It’s our own way of emphasizing the supremacy of Jesus’ power over all other powers.
The moment I saw this week's theme, this song came to my heart immediately. As I explored other renditions online, especially those by children, I found myself falling in love with the song all over again. The way the kids demonstrated the song, the melody, and their joy really brought back sweet memories.
I strongly recommend this song to every parent, it’s simple, fun, and yet very powerful. It subtly instills in children the belief that Jesus’ power is the ultimate, and all other powers are insignificant in comparison. Singing this song regular will help children recorgnise God's power above any other powers that may exist.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you enjoy this rendition as much as I enjoyed revisiting the song. Stay blessed!
