Performing at a School Dinner

Playing the Saxophone at events and dinners used to be my thing some years back.
Throughout my stay in Medical school, I was that one unusual medical student who never really had the vibe of a medical student. I was always here or there at one event or the other, performing music for varied audiences.
I probably did more music than medicine in Medschool😄.

I remember my first school dinner performance back then, about 5 years ago. It was actually my first dinner performance.
I had just won a Talent Competition the day earlier and so the organizers gave me a "free ticket" to come and perform at the school dinner the next day.
I wasn't so used to live performances at that point. I did some gigs, but not usually a paid one.
So I never really understood that I needed to charge for the event. I was just that simple musician alway wanting to play his saxophone to an audience when presented with the chance🤭.

Serenading my audience with my performance was my utmost priority

I prepared my tracks the day before and performed as best as I could. And sure enough, people were blown away by my display of skill.

I remember the highlight of the night was when I performed a Salsa track and a gentleman and his lady who were apparently skilled with dancing Salsa took to the stage to enjoy the serenade. It was really good to watch them dance away to my tune.
After that event, I got to meet the lady dancer and found out she was a professional dancer. It was a great meet!

I'm not sure I can find the exact track I used for the performance that day, but I sure have one here that's in the same Salsa vibe and I decidea to improvise on it and show you a little of what happened 5 years ago!

Enjoy it!

I know, but in fact, it is like any other profession. It has to be paid.
Sometimes we do free performances, yes, but musicians also have to pay bills like everyone else :D

Oh, that is cool :)))
That is great when we meet some interesting and special people at our gigs 😎
Double happiness :))

but in fact, it is like any other profession. It has to be paid.

I got to realize this much later.

Yes, meeting interesting people, especially those that vibe with our performances can be quite fulfilling.

This tune is so lovely. Makes me want to move my feet, even though I can't dance salsa! 😩😅

It is always lovely to watch artists who love what they do. It is clear in how you play!

Thank you for blessing our ears!

You're very much welcome. C'mon, feel free and dance. No one sees your moves in your house😜
