It’s another beautiful season of celebration, and not just any celebration, but the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ . This season means a lot to me and to all believers or Christians because the birth of Jesus Christ is a very big deal. It brought liberty, redemption, and reconciliation between God and mankind. Through His birth, life, death, and resurrection, we now have full access to God and the assurance of eternal life/hope.
It’s AFRI-Christmas Volume 4, and we are all encouraged to come with Christmas related songs. For this week’s entry, I decided to present two songs in my dialect, Eggon, from Nasarawa State. These two songs focus entirely on the birth of Jesus Christ and what it represents to us as believers.
The first song talks about where Jesus was born and how His birth took place. It describes how the Lord poured His Spirit upon Mary, and she conceived with a baby and later gave birth to Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. This song reminds us that His birth was not ordinary, but divinely orchestrated by God for the salvation of the world.
The second song is a song of celebration because of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is more like a birthday song dedicated to Him, full of joy and thanksgiving. It expresses happiness and gratitude for the coming of our Savior.
These songs are very common in some of our local assemblies in Nasarawa State, especially in Eggon dominant communities. We sing them with joy, excitement, and a deep understanding of the birth of Jesus Christ. Whenever these songs are sung, they bring a strong sense of unity, celebration, and remembrance of why Christ came.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ have given us hope and the confidence to approach God boldly, without fear or doubt. Because of Him, we can come before God knowing that we are accepted.
This season also reminds us to show love to one another not only to fellow Christians but also to unbelievers. Christmas is a season of love, giving, and sharing.
