Hello beautiful people! Welcome to Hive Open Mic Week 264. I’m excited to be a part of this amazing musical journey once again. For this week’s rendition, I decided to do a cover of the powerful worship song “Consuming Fire” by Jimmy Johnson (aka Jimmy D Psalmist), a talented Nigerian gospel artist who is not only a singer but also a gifted songwriter and record producer.
I chose this particular song because it aligns perfectly with this week’s theme: “Stronger” The song speaks volumes about the strength, might, and unmatchable power of God. It paints a vivid picture of how awesome and consuming the presence of God can be. While the lyrics do their best to describe God’s strength, the truth remains that no words or melody can fully capture how mighty He truly is. God's strength goes beyond human understanding, He is simply indescribable.
Listening to Consuming Fire stirs something deep in my soul. It reminds me of how powerful and ever-present God he is in my life, fighting battles I cannot see and making ways where there seem to be none. That’s the kind of strength the song reflects.
I also want to appreciate the effort of Jimmy Johnson as both the writer and producer of the track. His delivery is heartfelt and intentional. You can tell he understands the message he’s passing across. The transitions, the buildup, and the emotion in his voice are spot on. He knows when to intensify and when to pause, which adds depth to the experience.
