Most of my friends here already know I am in camp performing my duty of serving my father's land, which means I am a Nigerian Corper. Today marks it 16 days I have been in the orientation camp and it makes me happy knowing there are just a few days to the end while I return home for some weeks before resuming to my place of primary assignment for the remaining 11 months.

Activities had started right from day one where soldiers were assigned to different platoons with each platoon consisting of Corp members. There are 10 platoons and corpers were given their platoon numbers of which I fall into number 4. In each platoon, we have officers/instructors and commandants who are in charge of directing us and ensuring we are involved in different activities like marching, drumming, those in the Red Cross group, Man O war, OBS (Orientation Broadcasting Service) etc.
The swearing-in ceremony where Corp members were sworn in and officially called Corpers instead of Prospective Corpers has been done. The governor, commissioner for police, and other guests came to honour the day for us. It was an amazing moment to be sworn in officially. After the event, the next activity kick-started. The parade rehearsals had started over a week ago and later today, we would be doing the inter-platoon competition. In the video, it was the last rehearsal we had where number 1-10 platoons were marching as the band were giving them sweet sound to be aligned accordingly. I was part of the parade before but was removed by my platoon commandant. He didn't give room for a second chance or even tried to correct me but was too aggressive and quick to remove me and a few members. He expected us to grab something he hasn't taught us, he was just too angry which I didn't like.

Of course, I was super excited because it meant I wouldn't be engaging in strenuous activities but to be a part of Platoon 11. This platoon is invisible but it is their way of classifying those not marching as we are called real Otondos (this term means fools in the Nysc slang). I don't care, since no one stresses me, I am good to go. Lol
I hope you enjoyed the parade rehearsal and how the bands did their best too.
