Hello amazing people of the Sound Music Community. It’s Praise and Worship Week 72. For this week’s edition, I decided to do a cover of the song “Imole De” by Dunsin Oyekan. Imole De is a Yoruba phrase that simply means “Light has come.” The light being referred to in this song is the light of God, which points directly to Jesus Christ, as declared in John 8:12 where Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.”
For me, this song carries more than just melody; it is a powerful message every believer needs to embrace. If we, as Christians, truly hold on to this truth, we will see and experience the goodness and mercies of the Lord. What God desires from us is simple, our willingness to surrender and make ourselves available for him to guide and direct us.
When we attempt to live life by our own wisdom, we often stumble, because we cannot see the future. It becomes like walking in darkness. But when we allow God, who knows the end from the beginning, to lead us, his light becomes our guide, showing us the right path.
I must commend the songwriter for birthing such an inspirational piece. It reflects a deep commitment to hearing the voice of the Lord. Spirit-filled songs like this are treasures to humanity, and I believe this one came at just the right time. I encourage everyone to listen to the original track or my cover version and be blessed.
Also, special recognition goes to everyone who contributed to making this song as excellent as it is, from the lead vocalist to the backup singers who delivered their parts beautifully, and the instrumentalists whose skills elevated the sound. Their efforts deserve great commendation.
See the lyrics below:
Where’s darkness at the sight of light
Evaporated at the glimpse of light
You’re the light that makes my face shine bright
As I look your face
I become the light
Where’s darkness at the sight of light
Evaporated at the glimpse of light
You’re the light that makes my face
Shine bright so bright
As I look your face, I become the light
[Chorus]
Imole De oh! (Light is here)
Okunkun parade (Darkness vanish)
(X2)
