Today is indeed a great day filled with sadness. But before I continue, I would love to welcome you all to my blog.
We are in Week 161, Round 2 of the Hive Music Festival Weekly Prompt, and I am delighted to bring you a gospel song by Minister Moses Bliss titled “Too Faithful.”
This song didn’t just come by chance, something happened that triggered me to perform it.
You see, I began my write-up by saying today is a great day filled with sadness or mourning. The reason I said that was because of a painful event that happened recently.
I have a neighbour who once rented a flat in our house. Over time, we became very close, just like family. I knew they were going through some challenges, things were not easy financially, and the father is a police officer. Last week, the Mother called me and requested my Dad’s number. She said God had blessed them, and they wanted to buy a plot of land to start their house project. I was genuinely happy for them and immediately sent her the number. She mentioned that she would send her daughter to meet my dad because she wasn’t feeling too well. I understood and agreed.
Then, yesterday around 8 p.m., I received a message asking me to please pray for her because she was seriously ill. I didn’t think it was that serious. I wanted to pray, but honestly, I wasn’t feeling too strong myself. I decided to rest a little first.
By around 2–3 a.m., I woke up and saw a message that broke me completely “Mum, why so soon?” in her daughter's WhatsApp status, She had passed away. I was speechless. I couldn’t believe it. The person who messaged me earlier confirmed it again by 4 a.m.
My heart was heavy. I began to ask questions I couldn’t answer “Why, God? Why now?” Especially because her third child is becoming someone great in life, a musician just stepping into the limelight.
While I was still in deep thought and tears dropped from my eyes, the song “Too Faithful” came to my spirit. I began to sing, crying alone:
“You are who You are yesterday, today and forevermore. What You say is what You do. You never fail, You never change, You are faithful to the end.”
Then I heard a voice within me saying, “It’s not about what you want, but about what God chooses to happen. Some things are beyond our control. Leave it for God.”
That was the first time I felt something different while singing the song. It wasn’t just lyrics and melody of the song anymore, it became a message. God began to remind me through scripture that “To everything, there is a season, a time to laugh and a time to cry, a time to be born and a time to die.”
From that moment, I felt inner peace. The Holy Spirit calmed all the noise in my mind and replaced my sorrow with gratitude.
Sometimes, we may not understand why good or painful things happen, but one thing remains true, God is too faithful to fail, his faithfulness is not just on the good he did to us but at all times. Even when we don’t see His hand in that situation, we can trust His him. He knows exactly what’s best for every situation we've found ourselves, and His plans are always good, even when they don’t make sense to us. So, in joy or in sorrow, let’s hold on to His faithfulness, because He never fails.
