Hello my beautiful friends of Hive, welcome to AfriTunes Week 174! My name is @oluthomas, and for this week’s entry, I’ll be doing a cover of a powerful song Holy Fire by Pastor Theophilus Sunday.
This song is deeply birthed from the place of prayer, and I’ve come to truly admire Pastor Theophilus, not just for his unique style of singing, but for the grace of God that rests upon his life and his voice too. If you’ve ever been in a place or gathering where he’s ministering, you’ll agree with me that you don’t just feel goosebumps, you feel the tangible and real presence of the Immortal One, the very presence of God and it happened while listening to his songs too.
But such depth in worship to God doesn’t just happen overnight. There’s a place that one can contact this kind of fire and it can only come from a place we call the secret place. It’s in the secret place that one catches the fire of the Holy Ghost. It’s where divine revelations and guidance about the future are unveiled, and where deep matters of life are addressed. Only in the secret place.
In the song, he cries out: “Holy fire burns upon my altar.” That “altar” he speaks of isn’t just a physical structure, it refers to the altar of prayer. It’s at this altar that worship happens, praises are lifted, and deep fellowship with immortal beings takes place (God and His angels).
For the anointing (function) to keep flowing continually, the altar of prayer must remain on fire. It must be constantly burning, because only then can we be spiritually sensitive, to sense signals when there's anything negative coming our way and to be protected from the attacks of the enemy.
