Ring the Bells is the theme for our entry for Week 272 of the Hive Open Mic, and I consider this theme to be one of the best so far. I’m truly glad that the community always brings amazing and engaging topics that allow us to give our best by connecting them to music.
“Ring the Bell” is not just an alarm or a signal we hear in schools, maybe to mark break time or even in church. It goes deeper than that. Ringing the bell is also about telling the mind or preparing the heart to take action. It could mean it’s time to do something different, to go in or come out, to eat or fast depending on what you’ve trained your inner bell to respond to.
For this entry, I did a cover of a song by Nathaniel Bassey titled “Jesus Knocking at the Door.” This song is a powerful call to awakening and a reminder to be conscious of the time and season we are in. Jesus is at the door of our hearts, knocking and waiting for us to open up so He can come in and dwell within us.
When we hear that call, do we listen? Or do we ignore it?
Even back in our school days, not everyone obeyed the bell. Some would stubbornly remain inside when it was time for break, while others would leave school before the closing bell, which was clearly wrong.
This call is specifically for my dear brothers and sisters: open up the door of your heart. Jesus is knocking. He longs to come in and commune with you.
