Greetings to the amazing people of the Hive platform and the wonderful Hive Open Mic community.
We’ve been given a theme titled “Mermaid” for Week 274 of the Hive Open Mic Weekly Contest. When I saw the theme, I smiled, and out of curiosity, I checked out some amazing entries by other participants. One particular entry really made me laugh because the song reminded me of those funny childhood songs we used to sing while growing up.
It was one of those songs that compared the power of Jesus with that of the Mermaid Water, and of course, Jesus power always supersedes any other power. From the name Mermaid Water, you can comfortably assume it means a maid that lives in water (the sea or river).hahahaha
Back then, we were told that whenever we are crossing a river, we should sing songs that oppose the mermaid spirit. If not, we were warned that she could become angry and cause destruction. But honestly, I’ve never seen a mermaid water before, I only see such creatures in movies or on television. There are so many stories about mermaids, but to be truthful, I don’t really believe in them.
For this week’s theme, I decided to sing a cover of the song “Casting Crowns”, because I felt it directly responds to the mermaid topic. I understand that some believe mermaids possess powers, but the reason I chose this song is to make it clear that no matter the power a mermaid may have, she must submit to a higher powers or authority and that power is in the name of Jesus Christ.
Her crown cannot stand where Jesus is present. His power is supreme. Where He shows up, every other force becomes powerless, including that of the mermaid water. As I said earlier, I have never seen a mermaid before and honestly, I’m not praying to see one either hahahaha.
Thank you very much for taking the time to go through my performance. God bless you all, and I pray we continue to grow together as one big Hive family. I love you all.
